Once Pete gets him on the PEDs, he will get bigger, faster, and stronger. Right?

Round of postings from Saints, Broncos, and Niners fans in 3, 2, 1....
Typo! I meant PEZ.

He sounds too thin and brittle to me to last in the smaller field, harder-hitting NFL. Most of these tall, thin WR's get hurt easy (see last years favourite Williams who eventually got put on IR after Jacksonville picked him up). But I'll root for him as I do for all underdogs.

Those are his combine numbers, right?

Maybe he's filled out some and gotten faster ala Brandon Browner.

That's right. It's the Hawks 2 year plan. The first season you turn them into Drago via the PED's and high-class training facilities and let them get suspended for 4 games, and then the next year he's strong enough to contribute. Or so Jim Harbaugh will subtly suggest to the media.

Why don't we go after Kenny Britt.. The guy has shown he can play when his head is right and who would take are of that better than Pete. He is also the big bodied wr we'v been looking for and could get him for a mid/low rounder. He is cheap n would nicely replace Rice IMO.

Regardless of how he turns out it's pretty clear they still want a big target at WR/Tweener TE.

Could be a cool story, I kinda hope they get his weight down a little if it helps out his speed.

Well, he'll certainly be more focused.

CFL's official website says he weighs 227lbs. That's about 10lbs more than his college weight.

I was going to say he looks bigger than 218 lbs.

He seems to me, from watching the highlight videos, that he has no YAC.
He seemed to gone down rather easy with first contact.

Awesome. Love seeing CFL guys get a chance, hope he turns out to be something. The transition can be rough though. The best part of Pete Carroll is he REALLY doesn't care where you come from, only competition. Definitely real potential.

Oft injured and a ten cent head. No thanks.

Here's what intrigues me about Matthews: Apart from the great production he's had at each level he's played thus far (which I think is important - he's a player, not just a great athlete), he's a noted jump ball specialist and seems focused heavily on blocking. His college bio even points this out, noting he had "excellent height and the ability to battle a defender for the tough catch ... Has been an outstanding blocker in the run game." Those two attributes are big for the Seahawks, for obvious reasons.

4.57 is good speed for a 6'5" guy.

I would guess he went undrafted because he plays soft and needs to attack the football better. I'm curious to see if he developed in the CFL or if he just dominated weaker competition. I don't want to make too much out of Lockette, but Matthews won't have an easy path to making the roster because Lockette has been a beast on special teams and had some nice catches at the end of the season.

Blocks for the running game which is something both Tate and Lynch mentioned pre-Super Bowl about our WRs and a big target across the middle for a short qb - perfect if he works out. Whatever if he doesn't...,

I love it, it's extra competition for the WR's. Throw a bunch of big body WR prospects at the wall and see who sticks. Now I would say Draft 1 WR in the first 2 rounds and add some UDFA's.

After watching some highlights I get the impression that he's the Shawn Alexander of big wide receivers. Easily arm tackled, soft. Nowhere near as physical as a guy with his natural talents should be.
