If anyone cares...Montreal made it to the CCL final.
Not quite yet, but they do have a 2-0 lead heading into the second leg of the semis.

Yeah...that. That is what I meant.

Sounders FC 2 won their first match 4-2 over The Sacramento Republic.

CAreDfwVAAAJHZN

Starting 11 (442)

Craven, Rossi
Kovar*, Frano, Sanyang, Mansaray*
Remick*, Ockford*, Lowe*, Fisher*
Lyon*

Subs available:
GK - Kerawala (Unsigned homegrown product - Invitee)
MF/RB - Aaron Long
DF - Nicholas Miele
MF - Duncan McCormick (HGP)
MF - Christian Roldan*
MF - Sam Garza
FW - Darwin Jones (HGP)*

I have placed Astrisks next to players who are also listed on the first team roster.

Goal scorers for the sounders were, Andy Craven, Sam Garza, Pablo Rossi, and Christian Roldan.

All 6 goals in the game came in the second half. The first half was extremely choppy and filled with long balls and missed passes. Very much a first match of the season feeling to the first half.

I apologize for the tweets containing the gifs not being embedded here. I couldn't get that feature to work with the S@H tweets for some reason. You can also view them all compiled here: http://www.sounderatheart.com/2015/3/21 ... highlights

Here is goal #1:

https://twitter.com/sounderatheart/stat ... 76/photo/1

As you can see, it was a ball played deep (from CB Damion Lowe). Craven was able to shield the ball from the defender and chipped it over the keeper.

Goal #2:

Not quite included in the Gif, but Garza was put in by a chipped through ball by Rossi. Garza showed incredible patience on the ball to bring it down, put it on his right foot and slot it home. These were Garza's first touch of the ball as he was substituted on moments before.

Goal #3:

[tweet]https://twitter.com/SoundersFC2/status/579497764872011776[/tweet]

So...I mentioned Pablo Rossi was something of a free kick specialist right? Cause he is. This is the third he netted for S2 since preseason began, and this one is the best one yet. Went keepers side and put some great power on the shot. He might lose the goal in the official's book because of the keepers deflection...but still a beautiful free kick nonetheless.

Goal #4:

https://twitter.com/sounderatheart/stat ... 56/photo/1

This goal is just beautiful. Prior to the start of the gif Mansaray beats a player with a bit of skill and accelerates into space. Picks up his head and delivers an absolutely brilliant outside of the boot early cross to Christian Roldan who calmly volley's it into the goal. That is a tremendous assist by Vic.

I'll post the clubs highlight video when it becomes available.

Dempsey has been called up by the USMNT.

Pappa has been called up by Guatemala.

Azira has been called up by Uganda.

All 3 will be unavailable for Dallas.

I would expect to see Barrett, Kovar and Rose slot into those starting 11 places....unless Ozzie is fit.

I know its Mexico (or.... Denmark/Switzerland), but why is Dempsey being called up? He will be a bit player at most in 2018. Be nice to see Bobby Wood or Julian Green or some of the other, younger attackers get a longer run out

My bad, not sure where I got Mexico from.

Either way, the point stands. Why call him up for friendlies?

My guess is Juergen wants the experienced guys he's calling up to get time alongside the young guys like Green, who's also on the roster, and help teach them.

If it was a long camp, I could see that. Or if he was paired with some younger attackers. Green and Rubin (who could be a very exciting player) are really the only "young" players in camp. This is just a week isn't it?
What time could be had? It smells more like Jurgen is concerned about performance and results in friendlies, which concerns me. The roster he's selected has a lot of experienced players.

I don't know. its nothing against Dempsey, just don't see the merit in having him join this group. He's 32 already and will be 35 by the next World Cup. I just feel its time to move on. Maybe Wood wasn't available.

That said, Cody Cropper is traveling and hopefully the first choice keeper. (Do we really need to see any more of Nick Romando?)

Think this is more about getting ready for the gold cup than anything....and you really want the captain there for that. I think he will continue to be called up until after Copa America (The COMNEBOL tournament we are hosting).

Didn't consider the Gold Cup... makes more sense.

Not sure he will be a featured player in the Copa America, not at 33

Yeah, gold cup is important this year as this years winner feeds directly to confed cup.

I expect the Copa America to be the last hurrah for Dempsey and Howard.

Michael Azira has turned down his call up in favor of staying with the sounders and keeping his spot in the 11.

Kind of odd to see a player turn down a call up. Especially a player who isnt established in the national team picture.

Rumor is that Fredy Montero is on the market. His streaky nature has finally irked Sporting...

Rumored to be $11 million for him....

As much as it wont happen, and as stupid as it would be to have happen....

....i want it to happen....
