I wish they would find a way to dump Dempsey. The team seems to do better without him.

Lodeiro was great today in the play maker position. If dempsey didnt sell jerseys id try and move him amd try get a younger dp. Wonder if a texas team would trade for him? Maybe the crew with next years move in mind?

With Ruidiaz now I honestly don't know where you play Demspey. He's too slow to play out wide or a recessed/tucked back center position. All he'd do is get in the way of Lodeiro.......and we already know even when healthy and fast he never likes to drop back and help on defense, so he'd be a liability on our half of the field as well.

Unfortunately he's been reduced to a super sub role. But yes, maybe there another club that'd like the kit and ticket sales with a mid-season trade for Demspey for some allocation cash.

Hey Si, it looks like Minnesota is close to buying Nicolas Benedetti from Deportivo Cali.

Saw this the other day. Interesting player, and MN united (to their credit) have been going out and trying to get young internationals to add creativity to the side.

Could be quality. young, big (for a cm), pacey and creative.

Shame there's not an American kid with the same attributes from the area. But their youth DA is supposed to be working towards that

nice goal by the newcomer last night. Sounders haven't lost in their last five matches with three wins and two draws.

Yep, playing much better obviously now with an actual dangerous striker in Ruidiaz, as opposed to lumbering forwards like Dempsey and Bruin who can only score if the balls placed at their feet............although Dempsey couldn't even hit an open goal last night when SJ pulled their goalie.

Still need width, which hopefully this new signing will give us. Definitely more dangerous up the middle with Ruidiaz, but still VERY narrow on the attack.

Felt the game last night was super dull and low tempo. Felt like one of those games were not much was going to happen until Ruidiaz scored. Was a great finish. We still need a winger that can create chances badly.

Also feel Roldan has went off the boil a bit. Some really poor passing at points.

In fairness to Bruin, I think he scores one of the earlier chances Rudiaz missed. I think he's a great squad player.

As for Dempsey, i've been a critic of him but felt he had a decent impact sub appearance last night. Was unlucky with the shot at the end. Would like to see that more to be honest. We may have to think about Lodeiro's minutes to keep him sharp. He's played a lot lately. Maybe bring Dempsey on for him or other with 15 minutes or so to go.

Why not let Dempsey and Bruin take turns starting? Basically the same old ass target type forward at this point in both their careers.

Or try Dempsey out on the wing for Shipp. god knows he ain't doing anything.........at least that makes us more dangerous technically, Dempsey's a far better passer and can at least break down a defender. Shipp's been here all year, and I still can't figure out what he does well. Terrible.

Ruidiaz looked good and a spark last night. Nice goal from him. On the other hand, why is Jordan McCrary on the roster? Dude looks to be a S2 player at best.

Being a salary cap league, most teams likely have the same issue with depth. Leerdam is still working his way back from injury. We kind of lucked out last year with Joevin Jones and Nouhou playing well on the left hand side.

Because we have NO depth at outside back right now. We're already shaky at outside back on both sides, so after that it's all young depth..............and Leerdam couldn't go, so you get McCrary.

Even if we make the playoffs, priority #1 next off season has to be to improve the backline, especially at outside back. Desperately need a Yedlin/Jones type player that can be dangerous on the attack and dependable on defense.

IMO that can be easily fixed because we can clear all tons of cap next year if we get rid of some dead weight like Dempsey and Ozzie.........and are players like Kee-Hee and Torres still worth 500k a piece? Hell, I don't even think V-Rod is worth even close to the $1,000,000 we're paying him.

Dude was suppose to come in and provide offense and technical help for Lodeiro, and all he's done is get hurt and not score goals.

watched the LAFC-Galaxy game last night.

Very impressed with the atmosphere there. Smaller stadium (22000 max) much in the way MN United will build theirs. Fans right on top of the field much like an BPL stadium

And the fans responded.

(the play was a little to be desired in terms of its overall cleanliness.. but hell, its a derby game. It's supposed to be messy)

Yep, MLS did it right this time with LAFC. Top flight ownership group, amazing new stadium and immediate talent on the pitch...........and not just another red headed step brother to the Galaxy like Chivas.

This is a GREAT thing for MLS, having this quality of a derby rival in LA.

Huge win. 5 points behind rsl and we have a game in hand. Team is getting confidence back. I feel like Svensson coming back has really helped and ozzy turning a corner in his health. I do hope the rumors of 2 players coming in is true to A solidify any play off berth we may get and B make a play off run.

Lodeiro has been great lately. I still think we have to manage his minutes soon though as he's played hell of a lot. We are paying dempsey a lot of money to sit on the bench. Feel like for a run of games he should be on at the 60/70 minute mark where he may be more effective and give lodeiro that rest.

Also credit to schmetzer for keeping the team together. Other managers may have lost the dressing room or gave up. I still have serious questions about the GM. How anyone coukd have thought a team like the sounders with their resources could depend on bruin and an ageing dempsey the moment morris got hurt. Cost us so many points and we aren't out the hole yet (but almost).

On the flip side, like last year, if this team makes the play offs and gets a midfielder or 2, could go far in the play offs. We tend to do well in 2 leg games and are great at bunkering down and getting a 1-0 or 1-1 away from home. The type of result that gets you through. We would need to avoid someone like atlanta though. At least its not looking like toronto are making the play offs though.

I wish the league would put pressure on nycfc. I get the league was desperate for another team in that area but yankee stadium is horrendous for soccer and any other market would be told to get their act together or be moved.

Six match unbeaten streak. Three wins in a row. 14 points in the month of July after getting 12 total from March through June. They're now within shouting distance of the final playoff spot.
