So this will be fairly long. I was just curious and this is just in fun. I know stats don't always tell the story but what I came up with is pretty interesting and pretty much exactly what we already knew. These teams are really close to each other.

All this talk of the how hot the Niners are, I was curious to see how they stack up against us. To start with:

During their 8 game win streak, the Niners have scored 205 points and allowed 124 points for an impressive point differential of +81.

During the past 8 games for the Hawks, they have scored 208 points and allowed 95 points for even more impressive point differential of +113

Now let's move on to some passing stats:

Kaepernick has thrown for an average 227 yards with 12 TDs and 2 Ints. He as played against the average ranked pass defense of 15th and the average overall defense of 14th.

Wilson has thrown for an average 201 yards with 11 TDs and 3 Ints. He has played against the average ranked pass defense of 13th and the average overall defense of 12th.

Essentially, Kaep has slightly better stats while playing against on average slightly worse defenses.

Rushing stats:

The Niners have rushed for an average of 135.5 yards with 4 TDs. They have faced the average ranked run defense of 13th and average overall defense of 14th.

The Hawks have rushed for an average of 130 yards of 8 TDs. They have faced the average ranked run defense of 14th and average overall defense of 12th.

Again, essentially a wash. Niners have 5 more yards a game but the Hawks have essentially scored a rushing TD in every game. Roughly against the same competition of defenses.

Defenses:

The Niners have allowed on average 240 yards passing and 89 yards rushing per game. They force 1.3 turnovers a game. They have faced the average 19th pass offense, 15th run offense, and 18th overall offense

The Hawks have allowed on average 191 yards passing and 72 yards rushing per game. They force 2.3 turnovers a game. They have faced the average 15th pass offense, 20th run offense, and 16th overall offense

The Hawks have played against better pass offense and overall offenses and have better averages. The Niners have played against better run offenses.

Sacks:

Niners have 26! sacks. They have allowed 19.
Hawks have 16 sacks. They have allowed 19.

Niners have quite a bit more sacks. Both teams have allowed the same amount of sacks

Turnover differential:

Niners have turned the ball over 3 times. They have taken it away 11 times. For a differential of +8
Hawks have turned the ball over 4 times. They have taken it away 19 times. For a differential of +15

Both teams are crazy good at not giving the ball up. But the Hawks take the ball away a lot more.

Opponents:

They have played 3 common opponents. The Falcons, Rams, and Cardinals. Plus one game vs each other.

The Niners have played 3 homes games. 3 playoff teams. 3.5 teams with winning records (Green bay had the tie with 8 wins). Obviously the Niners have won all 8 games
The Hawks have played 5 home games. 3 playoff teams. 4 teams with winning records, the Hawks have lost two games to teams with winning records

Summary:

The Niners are considered the hottest team in the NFL. They have won 8 games compared to the Hawks 6. But when we look at some stats, the offenses are very close with a very small edge going to the Niners. The Niners defense is good but the Hawks defense is better. The Hawks defense gives up significantly less points, yards, and forces significantly more turnovers while facing better offenses. Having more home games definitely helps those numbers, so good thing this game will be played here.

It's fair to say the Niners offense is better than those two games. But the Hawks defense is even better than they were in those games.
