LOL, I love Portland, but real cities have NFL teams. No offense.

Hope we can both get NHL teams and rekindle a rivalry.
I like some places in Oregon, not too fond of Portland proper, but I really like their Ocean beaches, Seaside to Lincoln City.

I am not too fond of the city of Portland either, but stop blaming the world for your problems already, you got screwed GET OVER IT! Its been 8 years now, the thunder are NEVER coming back, and quite honestly the BUCKS are not coming here with that dumpster of an arena, until you get your own house in order NOBODY is coming.....its getting pathetic.

Dude, everyone IS over it. The NBA will get an arena when they commit to coming back. Building an arena with no promise for a team is stupid. Until then, only the Sonics Rising guys stay up at night thinking about the NBA. No one expects the Sonics that are exiled to OKC to come back either, but nice strawman.

Oh yeah...

The Key after being renovated at the NBA's request = not a dumpster fire.

The Key ten years later according to the NBA = dumpster fire.

Exhibit A as to why you don't do anything for the NBA unless you have hard and fast long-term guarantees chiseled in stone from them.

I'm kind of seeing it more the way SportsH puts it but Throw does make some good points..In the end like Mongo says "No Arena nothing happens"...On Key Arena wasn't it just 5 years prior that it was renovated
for like 80 million? How was really outdated when Stern before said he liked it?In 5 years???
No, I think the 10 year timeline was correct.

You guys kill me with this whole the NBA OWES you a team, your team left.......DEAL with it, the only way a team is coming back is if you build an arena and with the local politics going on that ain't going to happen. Hate the Mariners, hate the NBA, hate whomever you want but until YOU can get an arena built its all bullsh*t!

peace and love from Portland :th2thumbs:

Your comment is so misguided and full of crap it isn't even funny.

Really? full of crap? how so? It seems you can't take it when someone is bluntly honest with you.......DOES the Nba owe you a team? Do you have an actual arena? or are you still looking at artist renditions? Or are you still clinging to the idea that if you put lipstick on a pig (key arena) that the NBA will come crawling back? Nobody is coming to Seattle until you get an arena built, and no one wants to pay the bills for an arena with no team, please tell me how that is misguided and full of crap please.

Mongo struggling to understand that no one is clinging to the Key and hasn't been for years is weird. Are you trolling or have you not heard about the arena plan in the first place? I don't get your terrible posts on this subject that are only blunt in the sense that you are blunt about your ignorance on the topic.

I will say this: If the NBA won't come here without an arena and the arena won't be built without an anchor tenant, then not changing the MOU for a hockey team to come first is even more of a mistake if you're an NBA fan.

Because no one is going to build an arena without the promise of a team, genius.

And the MOU, purchased land, finalized plans, and financing are all in place. But you knew that already, troll.

I give up hope when this agreement runs out, after that I'll be done. Lord knows those chumps on the Seattle City Council won't reup.

I just get the feeling that the NBA is done here.... for a long long time.

That Chris Hansen arena deal, then the rally, the excitement, the hope, was kind of the last gasp, ya know? Then we get our hopes crushed again by the NBA. We really went out on a limb emotionally. You can only get screwed over so many times before the damage is permanent, and there is no reconciliation.

We were done so wrong the way the Sonics were stolen, the NBA and Stern were so on-board with the theft. Then they actively wanted to protect Sac and Milwaukee? Went out of their way to protect Sac. Where was that protection for Seattle?

Man, its over. I loved the Sonics. But screw the NBA.

How was Milwaukee protected? Their owner wouldn't sell to Hansen. There was reports that Hansen did offer, Kohl said no.
