Actually I'm seeing 12 rookies. We have 22 players with a year or less of NFL experience. That is 41.5% of the 53 man roster. The average of team experience is 3.11 years! It is scary that we are so young but PC has an awesome track record of coaching excellence and demands a high level of professionalism. This year is going to be telling, it could be his best year to validate punching his hall of fame ticket.

You're right! I was going off my memory that we had 9 draft picks, I didn't actually count them. I guess we had 10 picks.

That is an impressive turnover rate.

Very similar to what BB and the Patriots did a year after their SB win in 2018. PC likes to be aggressive and integrate as many new young players that buy into his program.

The risk with UFA is that a lot of times free agents are mercs or don't buy in completely which ends up being a waste of money and time investment.

I think most teams around the league will look to fill their PS rosters mostly with guys they know. The "poach" rate isn't that high most years. Not to mention, if a team likes a guy, they'll have a handshake agreement with a player they cut that "you have a job here if you want." Obviously not a 100% guarantee you'll get all your guys back, but if a team claims them for their 53 there's not much we can do.

I don't have any frame of reference for this but it sure seems crazy.

13 rookies by my count.

Honestly, I'm not even sure what that means. Normally, a team so young would be building for the future. But this team sure feels like we're ready compete now.

The current count is 14. I believe they had 10 last year.

The roster needed an infusion of young talent.

I haven't been impressed with Dareke Young. I'm a little puzzled as to why he's sticking around.
He’s versatile. He can play gunner, returner, RB, and WR.

Matt Landers impressed during preseason and has great measurables, will be interesting to see if he gets claimed. Dareke Young looked like he can't catch targets at an NFL level, but I guess he must be an ace on special teams.
Update: Apparently Dareke Young is injured with some sort of sports hernia. So it's understandable that twisting his body to catch targets could be very awkward and painful for him. Best wishes to Young for a speedy recovery.

True to his word Pete managed to keep the entire group together. I'm impressed that we were able to do that to the extent they did. That's how you build the 'family' culture and makes gelling so much easier and more effective, especially for a strong early season start, but even more so for the best late season grind. I think we're in for a fun year again this year.
