I believe for this team to move forward and become the long term force in the NFL the team needs to hire Joe Philibin.
The main problem with this team is the complete disfunction on that is on the offense. Both Tom Cable and Bevell need to go. Cable needs to go because he can't develop linemen and Bevell needs to go because he has never been a key component to any high preforming offense in the league. Bevell got his start with Brad Childress in Wisconsin in a 3 yards and a cloud of dust type of team. When he did get a chance to coach a big time QB Brett Farve shut him down rather famously.

Tom Cable on the other hand has turned high school defensive linemen into very good offensive lineman during his longest coaching stay at Cal. Famously Tarik Glenn and Jeremy Newberry BUT he was never able to recruit or develop “normal” linemen during any of his stays at Oakland or Cal. He is also a major part of the Seahawks problems.

Now for Joe Philbin. He got his big coaching start as a offensive line coach at Iowa from 1999 to 2002 during that time when Iowa was going 1-11 he was able to recruit low rated high school linemen and turn them into NFL linemen his entire 2001-2002 starting O lines where drafted. He turned Robert Gallery into a top 5 pick. Once he left Iowa he went to Green Bay as the O line coach he turned Chad Clifton (2rd) Mark Tauscher (7rd) into the top tackle tandem in the NFL got Mike Wahle to his only pro bowl as a guard. These Packer teams ran the ball, Ahman Green had his 1888 rushing yard season with Philbin coaching the line. In 2007 he took over as OC and with Mike McCarthy coached a balanced attack that Seahawks will remember for the 201 yard rushing performance from Ryan Grant in the playoffs. Even in Miami he was able to keep things going with his draft picks on the line (minus the John Martin thing) He was also able to get Mike Pouncy to switch mid season and make the pro bowl as a guard.
With his coaching combinations of offensive line history and balanced play calling I feel that Joe Philbin is the man to get the offensive side of the house in order.
Thanks for reading if you have made it this far.
