As far as the Seattle Seahawks are concerned, he's the best coach we've ever had!

Well he's not a joke anymore. He will always be respected as a Super Bowl winning coach.

And he is in the same group as Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer as coaches to win it in College and the NFL. They are both respected coaches because that is such a rare accomplishment.

Agreed. And seems like players would run through a brick wall for the guy. They love playing for him.

I think Pete's legacy is a little bit more clearly defined here than the question of quarterback legacy. For starters, he has two more years to work with. And his legacy is very clearly defined; he wasted no time in replacing almost the entire roster to his own guys, and the last couple of years were 100% the legacy of him and John Schneider, sink or swim. There was no question about whose guys were really making a difference.

And so if we compare things, Pete is already well ahead in almost every category but longevity. Holmgren was arguably the best Seahawks coach before Pete, and Pete's got him flat beat when it comes to results that count. More than just the Super Bowl win, playoff wins, double digit win seasons, division titles, playoff appearances and wins, you name it.

My take? With this Super Bowl win, Pete just edged into first place.

Pete's legacy as a coach will be cemented if he can garner at least one more here amongst his peers and the league.

He and John as evaluators of talent is already gone from shaken heads to what is soon to be a wholesale flood of copy cat approaches. His coaching tree in the league is beginning to take root as well as his admin. We may keep our guys this next season, after that with any success close to a Super bowl this teams staff is going to be raided and our front office guys in scouting plucked for higher positions to steal the intangible aspect that Pete has been talking about to them the last week or two. Saying it but doing it osn't always the same, why you hedge your bets by grabbing guys that have done it.

He leapfrogs Belichick with one more IMO. Ironically, Bill won all his SBs with a D that Carroll played a large part in developing.

With this one, he certainly enters the "elite" category for modern era coaches.
