Not sure if anyone else noticed but Bobby Wagner made some plays today that had been missing previously with out run defense this year.

We so needed him back there!

And Max too. I know he had a few issues, but he is vital to the LOB.

Missing in the games he's been out anyway.

Simply a huge difference with Bobby at MLB.

Kam, too. This is a different defense with those two guys playing up to their abilities.

Yes, receivers actually start to fear getting lit up when going across the middle again. Bobby and Kam both had some good hits today.

Well, you obviously get the level of elite play back with Wagz back in there. That in and of itself is a huge shot in the arm for the defense, but on top of that you have no more players playing out of position trying to fill in for him and probably even more importantly; you get that continuity of communication back between the LBs and DBs. If you watch Wagz and Kam closely over the last few years, those two really communicate well pre snap.

Return of elite play = check
Other players return to their more natural positions = check
Level of communication between the levels of the defense improves = check

There's a lot that goes into the loss of your MLB.

Yes he is. That was the defense we are all used to. Having Wags in there made a world of a difference. He is more than just a great player...he's their leader and QB of the defense. Made sure everyone was in the right spots, etc. The run defense was back to being solid again. Made the Cards offense one dimensional and ineffective.

It looked like our 2013 defense out there again! What a beautiful sight to see!

Bobby Wagner is playing like a Pro Bowl LB.

Possibly premature--he's gotta stay healthy, but we sure are a much better defense with him on the field.

We're going to need a healthy Bobby Wagner playing at peak level if we're going to make it without Mebane. Last week without Bane and Wagz was brutal...

With Bobby, Kam and Maxwell in there our defense looked downright lethal again. Especially poignant in comparison to the AZ defense. Now to get the offense and coaching at a competent level. Skies the limit now.

Does anyone still want to debate the virtue of paying KJ vs. paying Bobby?

KJ is a good player. Wagz is better.

Bobby Wagner makes a difference but keep in mind we were playing a horrible run team. Next week will be a better test for our run D.

KJ is a good player. Wagz is better.

Honestly, I think Wagner, Irvin, and KPL are your linebackers next year. Smith returns if they can get him on a short-term deal for around the veteran minimum. Wright's size and versatility will give him more suitors than Smith.

KPL has impressed me when he's been healthy. That was a good pick.

Irvin continues to get better. Have to give credit to Ken Norton for coaching him into a successful transition.

I noticed him NOT being there for several games, and I also KNEW that THAT was one of the biggest holes in our Defense...B-Wags is a stud, ain't no two ways about it.

I'd really like to see him extended in the offseason and not letting him get to free agency.
