Richard Sherman has no peer.

He leads all cornerbacks, who have over 250 snaps, in averaging a reception allowed every 18.2 coverage snaps.

Top 5 Cover Snaps/Reception (min. 250 snaps)
1. Richard Sherman - 18.2
2. Demetrius McCray - 14.8
3. Darrelle Revis - 14.7
4. Vontae Davis - 14.5
5. Antonio Cromartie - 14.2

Though he has played only 142 cover snaps, Tharold Simon is allowing a reception every 20.3 coverage snaps. That is good for 2nd overall among all cornerbacks in the league. To do that while playing opposite Sherman is amazing. If Simon stays healthy and reduces his penalties, he is going to develop into a shutdown corner.

Cool info, had no idea Simon was doing that well. Any idea where Byron ranks?

Well, IIRC he led the league in INT's while being targeted far less than most other corners.

Damn, he's good.

Just reminds me how lucky we are to have this team.

To have multiple elite players on this team and having been able to watch how they grow and progress as players and humans is something special. Sherman is just one those guys who stands out for obvious reasons, but also has the ability to go along with everything else.

I feel privileged to be a fan of this team. Never gonna forget this generation of Seahawks.

I agree after the late 80's and 90's this team has turned it around, those years were hard to watch.

Maxwell has allowed a reception every 8.3 snaps. He ranks 60th out of 73 corners with at least 250 snaps. Of course, he has been picked on a bit because he plays opposite Sherman. He also has a different style of play than Sherman or Simon in which he focuses more on limiting yardage after the catch (and causing fumbles) than he does on breaking on the ball and limiting receptions.

Something that caught my attention that was mentioned in Sherm's press conference, is his involvement in stopping the run.

How many times this season have we seen him tackle the RB at the line of scrimmage. Dude stops the run too.

I would love to see a different Seahawk win it each week the rest of the season. How about that?

One way to measure this is run stop percentage. Sherman is tied for 3rd in run stop percentage among corners who have played at least 50% of their team's snaps:

1. Alterraun Verner - 4.3%
2. Shareece Wright - 3.4%
T-3. Richard Sherman - 3.3%
T-3. Carlos Rodgers - 3.3%
5. Leon Hall - 2.8%

Sherman's run stop % has improved significantly (more than doubled) from his first three seasons: 2013 (1.6%), 2012 (1.5%), and 2011 (0.7%).

Simon has had a ton of penalties on balls in his direction.

Simon doesn't look totally comfortable playing the bulk of his snaps from the slot corner position like he did in the last game. I think his newness to that position was a contributing factor to his THREE penalties. You can tell when he becomes antsy because his aggressiveness will cross the line of what the refs will normally allow. Still, Simon's instincts and explosiveness to break on the ball are special. His penalties will decline as he gains experience and becomes more comfortable.
