Woot!!! That is great news and means that they must have taken the entire Okung contract into consideration!

I'm glad they did because if it went the other way that had the potential to be another nasty poison pill type thing.

Bronco's thought they were pulling a fast one with the Okung contract but the NFL counted the entire contract in the compensation calculations.

Lots of draft capital for JS/PC to work with, hoping to see some magic.

Eleven 3rd round comp picks rewarded?

Good on the Hawks for nabbing two of those 3rds this year, because the NFL really has to do redo the formula.

Nice, But they also lost two comp picks for Sweezy+Mebane because of Bradley Sowell+J'Marcus Webb. :34853_doh:

My understanding is that they compare the losses and gains. Maybe it is two actual pics but comparing Sweezy with 5 years $32Million + Mebane 3 year $13M with Bradley $1M (I thought 1 year contract doesn't count against comp picks by the way) and Webb 2 year $5.7M and we would have gotten what 7 round picks as compensation?

1 year contracts do count.

It cost us a 5th and 6th round comp pick. Nothing to be done at this point. Regardless of Okung's valuation, it was always going to result in us losing a 5th and 6th. Since Okung's deal even at a minimum was going to be for a higher draft round than Sweezy's.

Yes they did, but it looks like it backfired. Okung's contract cost them the top compensatory pick for Brock Osweiler. They still received 4 picks but only one 3rd rounder.

Edited to update draft picks - SEA #244 was traded to OAK

With 3 third round picks that sets up nicely to trade down and get picks in the 4th and 5th rounds. :2thumbs:

Lets just make an imaginary 4th round pick, we always seem to cut that guy anyway. Keep the third.

Awesome news. Saw a headline the Hawks got 2 compensatory picks and just assumed it was the expected ones.
