  • Did I miss any names for these types of players? When Chuck Knox was hired, he talked about bringing in “impact players”. It’s how he talked about Curt Warner. Knox knew the importance of guys that were difference makers at their positions. Russell talked about bringing in more star players earlier in this off season. The more you have, the better your other guys are. We often hear, “ so and so just makes everyone around them better.” Do they or is their level of play just so good that it makes up any other deficiencies or average play?

With the trade for Jamar Adams, the Seahawks have added an impact player. Players like this are guys who are just better at what they do than others. They are rare and even harder to acquire. When the opportunity arises, you strike. All one has to do is look at the roughly 2/3rds of NFL teams that would love to upgrade their QB position.

In NBA basketball, if you have one superstar you’re blessed. If you have two you’re all but guaranteed to compete for a title. How many does it take in football? With the addition of Adams, it appears that the Seahawks have three such players, Wilson, Wagner and Adams. DK Metcalf looks like he could become one. Time will tell.

The XLVIII team had probably 5 of these types. Maybe in the NFL we see three types of players,...functional, really good, and impact. If your teams skews heavily to functional, then your team probably sucks. The NFL top 100 as voted by the players has started this week. So far from 41-100 we see Chris Carson (96), DK Metcalf (81), Tyler Lockett (65). Clowney is at 41. Counting Clowney, the Seahawks most likely have 7 on the list. That ties them with I believe Baltimore and KC for the most.

Of the top 100 players, one could easily argue that the actual impact players starts around 25ish. Mathematically that means there is less than one per team to go around. From 25/30 we see a bunch of really good players to fill out the list to 100.

  • Good thread. Not that it is the be all end all, but the top 100 really is speaking to the relative amount of high end talent on this team. Carson, Lockett, Wagner, DK, Russ and Jamal all be top 100; Clowney too, but it is tbd if he is Hawk.

The next tier of guys like Brown, Griffin, Diggs, hopefully Dissly is nice too.

But yes, the bluest of the blue chips are Russ, Bobby and Jamal. Each, at minimum, top 2 in the league at their position.

  • The team presently has 6 top 100 players as voted by the players not including Clowney. Three or 4 of them are easily in top 5 at their respective positions.

The wherewithal to win it all is here notwithstanding the doom and gloom types kvetching to the contrary.

If I'm not mistaken, Bobby was pretty bad this season. He looked so slow.

Are you really this clueless? Or are you just a Niners fan pretending to like the Hawks? You clearly have nothing good to say about them.

The Stat (Tackles) is really misleading.

You CANT really say just because he has the most tackles He's top elite.

Looking at #2 #3 Top tackles 2019 season IDK who these scrubs are

    Blake Martinez
    Jordan Hicks

If you want to look at PFF
"Wagner came in at No. 3 overall before the 2019 season, but he posted a 76.1 grade in 2019 – which is still well above average, but certainly not up to his usual performance by PFF’s standards."

He was voted upon by the players themselves not media types or folks with negative agendas or personal preferences. Being voted onto the list is a sincere impression by players who watched him and or played with or against him that he played very well last season.

Reality is Seattle scored big time drafting Metcalf.

  • Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen made the Bulls who they were, and raised the play of those around them.

How good would Horace Grant and other players have been without those 2 taking up all the opposing defenses attention?
