I was reading an article yesterday about the number twelve, and how more super bowl winning quarterbacks wore 12 than any other number.

So i did a little digging. Jersey numbers 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are the only numbers never to win a superbowl. A starting quarterback wearing 1,2 and 6 have never appeared in the super bowl.

Super Bowl Records
#3 (0-1) Hopefully Wilson change change this a little
#4 (1-1) Both Favre
#5 (0-2)
#7 (5-8)
#8 (5-2) Should be 6-1 :)
#9 (2-1)
#10 (2-3) E. Manning v Tarkenton
#11 (2-3)
#12 (14-12) Seriously 26 of 92 possible appearences... wow. Maybe we should unretire #12
#13 (1-3)
#14 (1-3)
#15 (1-2)
#16 (7-2)
#17 (1-2)
#18 (1-1)
#19 (1-0)

Only because it is a traditionally popular QB number. Kind of like 32 and 34 used to be for RB's.

Wilson is a mold breaker, it's only appropriate that he didn't pick a common QB number.

Besides, I believe the #12 was already taken...................by 64,000 crazy ass fans!

17 Doug Willliams I'm pretty sure, 18 Peyton, 11 Mark Rypien I think.

I did a search a while back by googling "Best NFL QBs by uniform number"... and the top rated QB that wore #3 was Daryle Lamonica.

I remember Lamonica's game... and I believe that Russell will have a more successful NFL career, thereby becoming the best QB to have worn #3.

Here's the link... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs0 ... id=3218941

Lamonica was known as the Mad Bomber in Al Davis strech the fieid offense, for that era he was pretty good as a Deep Ball QB.

Yes he was. When announcers talked about games with Lamonica playing they always said the air would be filled with footballs.

He never worried about coverages either. He'd put the ball up there and expect the receiver to bring it down. And the Ray-Duhs of those years mostly did.

He threw a beautiful spiral too, watching Trent Dilfer throw reminded me of Lamonica. But of course Trent never had the guts Lamonica had, nor the coach either.
