I like to think Jody gave the benefit of the doubt to Schneider since Carroll had that title of supreme ruler. I think Carroll knew if he didn’t vouch for JS, Allen, would have terminated JS when she terminated PC. And too be honest, JS, should have also been removed. But, JS, gets a second chance and I hope he has learned how much his philosophy with offensive line is deeply flawed and he begins to change it.I’ll say this about John.
If John is responsible for the many missteps we’ve had in Free Agency, and the draft five plus years ago, then he needs to go.
If those decisions were more Carroll’s doing, and the recent draft successes were due to John taking the reins from Pete, then he should get a chance to be an unrestricted GM for a few years.
The only people who know which it is, are the people who elected to keep John, and let Pete walk. It’s entirely possible they are making a mistake.
JS has proven that his scouts and drafting executives cannot draft offensive lineman well, like at all. To me that’s enough reason to dismiss JS, yesterday, last week, last year, 6 years ago. But he has lucked out basically because of Carroll’s head of football operations title and I’m sure PC knew if he (PC) didn’t take full responsibility, Allen would have also fired JS but JS was likely saved by the graces of Carroll (just my opinion).
We shall see what happens with JS. If JS doesn’t turn this thing around in another 2 years, it’s very likely the end of the road for JS and possibly Mac as well, cause JS brought Mac on and the two will leave together, but that’s just my thoughts.
