Elite traits.
Grey Zabel has elite explosion and athleticism for his position.
Nick Emmanwori has elite athleticism for his position.
Elijah Arroyo has elite traits for his position.
Jalen Milroe has elite traits at his position.
Obviously they are not perfect prospects but it seems to me they went for upside in this draft and I like it. I know some are whining and fretting about their imperfections and obviously you don't get perfect players in the second and third round but I get their strategy and I'm down for it.

Remember the “Sparq” years?
Thar was my thought as well.

At least they got good value.

If you want an idea of the value the Seahawks got in the first two days of the draft, they picked at #18, #35, #50 and #92. The players they selected were taken at #19, #22, #34 and #42 in Mel Kiper’s final mock draft.

That assumes Mel Kiper knows more about player value than the Seahawks (or any other NFL teams) draft room.
On that assumption we would have got better value getting Sanders at 18 instead of Zabel.

So I have to give props to JS for actually coalescing a new vision on offense with Mac and Kubiak via the draft.

Zabel could move up and down the line if needed but realistically speaking he is going to compete for guard or center. This allows for the Seahawks to work out multiple combinations to put the best starting 5 out there on the OL. Also give them options to shuffle the OL a bit if there are injuries too.

Arroyo if given time to do some NFL weight training will be a tough customer. But as a rookie he simply put brings explosion to a TE room and offense that will be using the TE position to attack the seem relentlessly.

Milroe will right away be part of some packages to mix it up and keep teams guessing in short yardage and red zone situations. With Milroe and with the heavy use of 12 personnel you can do a lot to confuse defenses in short yardage/red zone situations. Fant, Barner and Arroyo may benefit greatly from those sub packages with Milroe.

So the team is definitely going to be running the football a tad more but they are going to use a lot more creatively to keep teams honest.

Defensively, Emmanwori is going to a secondary that is stacked and the strength of this team. And there is no pressure for him to play right away which is ideal for his development. But in certain packages you can have Emmanwori out there to refine his skills and to develop a feel for the game by lettting him run havoc on the back end with Love, Bryant and Spoon.

I'm guessing that Mac will introduce Emmanwori to his defense in a similar manner as he did Kyle Hamilton... and likely in a similar role to how Hamilton was used.

As a rookie in 2022, Hamilton played in all 16 games... starting 4 of those. He played roughly half (53%) of the Ravens defensive snaps... and he also played almost all (70%) of his team's special teams snaps. On defense, he had 0 INTs, 5 Passes Defended, a Forced Fumble, 2 Sacks, 4 Tackles for Loss and 5 QB Hits... a productive rookie year for a Safety.

In 2023, he played and started 15 of the Ravens games. His defensive snaps ballooned to 91% (a MAJOR uptick)... and his Special Teams snaps were curtailed to 16%. His defensive stats improved to 4 INTs (one Pick6), 1 Forced Fumble, 13 Passes Defended, 3 Sacks, 10 Tackles for Loss, and 4 QB Hits... earning him First Team All Pro and Pro Bowl accolades.

Now, it's not fair to put Kyle Hamilton's accomplishments up as a standard for judging Emmanwori's development, but it is fun to speculate how Mike will likely use Emmanwori and get a glimpse of what he might accomplish as a chess piece in Mike's D.
