The Niners went to the SB with Garoppolo carrying a $30 million cap hit, and nearly won it. If we go down the line of QBs who have played in a SB with a real cap hit, the list of names are rather small.

Do you happen to recall what Wilson's cap hit was in SB49?

Eh, I wouldn't call it fraudulent. He just sucked.

Garropolo was the best QB a rebuilding team could land, except perhaps Ryan Tannehill. He was what they wanted, but he couldn't stay healthy. Once they figured that out, they went all in on Trey Lance vs Mac Jones, giving both Lance and KS more wiggle room for another year, possibly two. That's precious job security to most HCs.

So no, JG did not rip off Lynch at all. He was manna from heaven at a time of an intense rebuild.
