Jim Mora was 5-11 in his failed season here.

PC built a great team and then killed it back to the level he found it. So, I’m going with 5 wins and an extra loss compared to Mora.

Interestingly, Allen was not a vocal or an actively engaged owner, but here she broke her silence and made a STRONG statement. She wasn't going to allow Russell Wilson lie into being the victim, I would speculate that to guys in the locker room, she became the owner after that statement.
THIS^^ Toffee, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED WILSON!!, >>BUTTTTT<<, Not everything that came out of his mouth was the Gospel Truth.

Dishonesty about leaving? As soon as Jody chose the fossil over the needs for the franchise QB, it was pretty evident he was leaving. He had to. The team was never going to go anywhere as long as Carroll was still around.

The hunger and commitment you speak of will evaporate as the losses start piling up. Always does.

The struggles in preseason are a precursor for the regular season. The teams Seattle played werent fielding their best players and running their 'real stuff' either.

7 wins is their ceiling, not floor.
Calling Pete Carroll a "Fossil"????? >>SCREW YOUR SENTIMENTS<<< only an ass-clown would be so damned calloused & short sighted, sorry Mods, but this kind of SH!T needs to stop!

Gentlemen, as long as the attack is upon another’s post and not the poster, it is acceptable; but several here are skating very close to the edge here. Take care or there will be some fallout even for regularly reliable posters.

Rather obviously there are two well divided camps on the site and those who in the AP group never miss an opportunity to attack Carroll with an ageist focus without remotely acknowledging his right moves or the positive direction of this rebuild. Worse still they want him canned but offer up no viable alternative, or even any alternative.

Those pro Pete’s frequently fail to acknowledge the several mistakes they have made which for sure have upset those APers. It’s an interesting dynamic

That said carry on fellows but be mindful to be respectful.

I’ll vote on this poll after the last preseason game, but so far the majority view sure looks right.

Sorry Jammer, but some of these attacks are just plain ridicules & OFFENSIVE ...SOMEONE NEEDS TO CALL THESE A$$#0!&$ OUT when they keep running off at the mouth.....I guess that IF I get banned, these guys win the damned day....BUT, At least I'll have said my piece, AND FEEL GOOD about defending DECENCY-->I REFUSE to apologize to someone that's FLAMING SO DAMNED HARD!
Guess I'm just fed up with a closet Pitsburgh Steelers / Carolina Panthers fan coming in here throwing S#!t into the Seahawks fan board.

So maybe the vets who are also talking about how good the energy is and how together everyone feels now vs years past... and how they want to send a message to doubters who think they're terrible.

I'm sure the vets on the Jets, Jags, Bears, Lions, and Texans feel the same way too. And then they start playing and reality hits.

You rest your case for what? The facts are that Seattle is not going to be a good team this season. I'm sorry if you cant accept that. And look at the schedule man,,,its brutal.

It's all about staying healthy and getting solid play from the qb.

Our depth is our weakness, and will be amplified early on if we have starters go down.

From a morale perspective, energy, enthusiasm and the very strong, and very clear message from Jody, whether being in the war room in the draft, or firing shots directly and publicly at Russ for his dishonesty in leaving, that the gauntlet has been thrown down. The players are hungry to prove what this team is. I think the hallmarks that made our team great in the past, we have in spades again. Commitment to one another, unit to unit, within the offense, within the defense, and between offense and defense. That hasn't been a thing since 2013.

I think the struggles in preseason are a bit overblown, both because of the number of bench guys that have had to play in a new system, and that the team isn't running a ton of their 'real' stuff. Al Woods said that pretty directly in his presser when asked what he thought was behind the defense's struggles - that they werent showing a ton.

The team can either struggle early and claw its way to stability by seasons end, or... catch lightening in a bottle with some early wins that build confidence and have them playing above their pads.

Mostly agreed. I never put much stock in pre-season performance, ESPECIALLY wins or losses, just in the effort shown. To be fair, I haven't seen any preseason so I don't know how much effort has been on display. I think we have 3-5 rookies with a shot at being good to great from the get go and we have some young veterans that have shown a lot of promise. My metric for a successful season will be becoming a team without our longtime leaders around. Russ may've shed that title in all but name but Bobby didn't and we need some people to take up that mantle on D. Probably wont be any one person either, complete packages like BW don't grow on trees. If by the end of the season we have an identity, a solid group of returning starters on both sides and new leaders then I'll be satisfied. I don't see more than 6-7 wins with our division and the AFCW accounting for 10 of our games, but the challenge will be trial by fire and we just may come out of this with a new look team with a great near future.

Even regardless of the reasons why he wanted out, he's still not the Brady type to take a major pay cut (made up in other ways, no doubt) to let the team get better elsewhere. He's going to want close to $50M for his next contract and that simply wasn't going to happen here. Even if Russ was being completely honest about the trade, hes shown nothing to dispel the idea that he is going to once again be the highest paid player when his contract is redone. You can completely factor any relationship Russ has with fans, coaches or ownership out of the equation and it was still in the team's best interest to trade him. Unless he was going to get Payton or Belichick out here to be the coach, then maybe that would entice him to stay at a slightly lower rate, but otherwise he's going to get paid more than is remotely feasible to a rebuilding or even a retooling team. Take emotion out of it, it was still the right move despite the near certainty of a sub .500 season (maybe even 2). It sucks but it's the business of the NFL.

Nothing about this team... players coaches, performance, attitude, effort... is at all even remotely comparable to those teams you mentioned since PC and JS have been running things.

What was our record last year in week 12? We were 3 and 8. THREE AND EIGHT. And did the team fold? And that was with the disfunction at QB playing out for everyone to see, both in the locker room and in the media.

Going into week 7, we were 2 and 4. We sucked last year before Wilson got hurt. We sucked after Wilson came back. And yet we still went into the end of the season with a run balanced attack and destroyed a team that had everything to play for, with a patched together team of backups on D and an offense that was following the lead of a running back who prior to that, had never done much.

Effort remained high. Just like it was high in Pete's pre LOB years.

You're predictions, comparisons and justifications make it seem as though they are based more on a disdain for the coach of this team, its owner for supporting the team and not a player, and sour grapes over Russ being gone, than anything else.

Great post! Although I’m concerned that we are afraid to show our stuff. If our new defense was as lights out as the LOB then we wouldn’t have to hide it during the preseason

Can’t argue with the 7 win ceiling. Also can’t get on board with the “fossil” comment. If Pete has issues as a coach I don’t think his age is the problem. What you call the weakness I call a strength. He is experienced and committed. I like that. I would love to hear your specific issues with his coaching that you think are related to his age and why his age is making those the issues.

She said he wanted this change. Well thats true. After finally realizing they were never going to get rid of Carroll, he wanted out. I would too. Jody signed Pete to his ridiculous 5 year extension and thats when Russ went public about needing help on the Oline. Carroll half assed the concern as usual and Wilson finally had enough. Its no mystery. He would have loved finishing his career in Seattle, but knew it was futile trying to move forward with Pete Carroll. He is in a better spot now while Seattle is once again the laughing stock of the league.

Where is this morale you keep speaking of? Maybe with the rookies, but the veterans realize they are going to stink. It will only get worse as the losing persists.

Leadership screwed the pooch with Carrolls extension. Jody was fine with it because she doesnt have to get involved now. She just hands the reigns over to Pete and lets him babysit everything. She'll realize her error when Seattle is still struggling to be a .500 or below team 3 years from now.
Are you some kind of Pittsburgh Steeler plant? Your absolute confidence in such a negative outcome three years from sounds laughable to me. I am just as confident that Pete can build another contender as you are that we are screwed. When I say we, I mean the Seahawks because that’s my team!
