Pick 237: Kenny McIntosh RB Georgia

Watching the highlights, the dude knows how to hit the hole and has a a surprising kick into 2nd gear after he clears the LOS but not elite speed to outrun the DB's. Criticism says he runs up the back of Oline and has odd timing when waiting for the hole to develop...but his highlights show an aggressive runner. Pretty pumped for the rebuild of our RB group.

I'm impressed... wow. Reminds me of the way that Kittle runs when he's breaking into the open.

Our RB room is going to be one of the strongest and deepest rooms in the league.

Our running back room just got a lot stronger after this draft.

Hopefully they both pan out and make the roster.

That rotation would enable us to “pound the rock”, and there’s nothing better to open up the passing game.

McIntosh is a better receiver than he is a runner. He had zero drops in 2022 and almost had two 100 yard receiving games (117, 96). I took him a lot in mocks as a third down back exclusively, but usually in the fifth round instead of the seventh.

The pad level criticisms are completely real; he often was stood up in short yardage situations and despite solid strength and size he's not good on the ground in the middle of the field. Mississippi St in particular was a rough game where their DL held up pretty well and he wasn't able to add anything to what was blocked for him.

I really do like him as a third down back over Dallas though, as long as we send him out on routes rather than holding him to pass protect.

He was ranked fairly high among RB prospects (9th by nfl.com) but ended up being the 22nd RB taken. I think he ran the slowest 40 at the combine among all RBs at 4.62 which probably made his stock fall. But his 10-yard split (10.54) was the same as Zach Charbonnet's and very close to the top prospects like Robinson and Gibbs (10.52), so he has the burst you need to play RB, but maybe not the breakaway speed.

McIntosh catches well, runs sweeps...good 3rd down guy. Doesn't shy from contact.

Charbonnet also catches the ball...and loves to pound it. He'll be the tough yards back.

It will be great to watch them all progress.

Love videos like this. Funniest part is if you watch the video of Seahawks FO calling and having a hard time getting a hold of him, it's because this is what is happening in the background. Sounds like he's got some serious potential and fell from his combine, prior to that he was fairly high rated and now has a big time chip on his shoulder.

Looks like he had a bad pro day and didn't do a lot at the combine, so that may be why he dropped. His game tape shows a much better player than what these numbers show.
