I'm not a gambler, but I am intrigued by this stuff. I've been able to figure out some stuff but these last couple posts make me question something.
Is it true that you can get different/ better odds by going to different spots to place your bet?
I was thinking that whatever the odds were at any given moment, that they all would be the same.
Anybody care to school me on this?

Why would the line in a game that can't have a tie ever be only a half of the point? Since the winning team will win by at least one, isn't being favored by a half exactly the same as straight up?

Hahaha..briiliant question...and come to think of it, even reg season where games can end in ties, I can't recall ever seeing a 1/2 pt spread before. There must be a reason (?) but damned if I know.

I'll check it again in a bit, see if there's been any further movement.

Edit: Still at Denver - .5. I'm going to assume it's the software they are using. They are likely feeding all information...predominately amounts wagered per side, into a computer, then the software is generating the most optimum number they need to achieve balance (or wherever it is they want to be). That's the best I can figure. It's now been at Den -.5 since 1pm LV time.

I see half point spreads all the time. Likely they just don't tweak the program for the playoffs, where there are no ties.

Yes I've been reading it, and just read the entire thread again. I know that you stated that you thought the claim of 10 mil bet was BS. And that you and others say that based on the line not moving to adjust for such a bet is a reliable way of knowing the bet was not placed.
However like I said, I'm not a gambler and much of the lingo is foreign to me, the ledgers that have been posted may as well be in ancient Hebrew.
It's been said that many times FM post pictures of his tickets, and that's what I was asking about, as far as proof goes.
Those of you that are in the know about this stuff may see very clearly one way or the other, that the bet was or was not placed, but I don't.
Please pardon my ignorance.
I also read that a couple of large bets have been placed on the Hawks. Are you talking in the millions large?
