Out of all the potential OL that were rumored to be possibilities, Ifedi was my least favorite.
His body and frame are certainly intriguing, and at least there is no chance he fails because he lacks size.
My problem is that he seems like a raw project who may have only succeeded so far because he's always been so much bigger than his competition.
He won't have as much of a size advantage in the NFL, and the guys who he'll be blocking are all more polished.
At pick #26 (or 31) you can't really expect a polished T without flaws, but you also don't want them to fall into "project" territory.
If he has a true competitor's spirit in him, and he is motivated and driven, then that would be enough for me to take him out of "project" status and more into the "boom or bust" label which is totally acceptable for 1st rounders.
My initial grade : B-
We got a physical specimen with a lot of potential upside at a position we need, we saved about $1.25M in cap space over the next 4 years by dropping back to 31, and we picked up a late 3rd rounder. On the downside, nobody is really projecting him to be a LT, so if Gilliam doesn't succeed we will still be missing the biggest piece on the OL
