This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. At first I thought it was a salary cap issue, but McManus is only making $3.5 million this year, a million and a half less than Myers. He had a little bit of a down year last year, but he's still a decent kicker.
What are they going to do, sign a 40-year-old Robbie Gould? Or as
@SantaClaraHawk said, Brett Maher? They won't save any money because of the dead cap hit. Teams that try to save money in the kicking game usually end up regretting it.
But maybe it's because Maher was the kicker in New Orleans during Payton's last year?
