Not saying he's either right or wrong, but this is the same guy who would rather get a sack instead of a pick 6.

Most people that play football would rather get a sack.

So now we have 2 possible suitors, Crazy uncle Jerrah, and Mark “Bowl Cut” Davis.
Let the bidding begin!!!

Given the mental state of ET, everyone should know we don't want him wearing a Seahawks uniform with the current attitude he has about the team.

As many have said wait for a playoff contender to lose their free safety then make a deal.

Such cry babies, the team got so cancerous over the last three years. Glad we re-started but two years too late for sure.

No wonder Pete brought in Jordan Peterson, head-cases everywhere.

The reality is the team most likely stands their ground, Earl misses the first six (what ever the max he can sit out without forfeiting the season) games of the season and comes back to play the rest of the season. The Seahawks tag him and try to trade him in the off season

Some of you act like Earl's conduct exists in a vacuum. It doesn't. Other players are watching these tactics and taking notes. If Earl gets either an extension or a trade, he wins and Seattle loses. No one will respect Seattle's front office if Earl isn't, at minimum, suspended. You cannot reward disloyalty or you will have more disloyalty.

Earl Thomas will never play another down for Seattle.

This is true, but even if Seattle does nothing, players will take note and make noise about that too. They will talk about how he deserved the money, situation was mishandled, no loyalty by the organization, “it’s a business”, etc. There is no winning here for the team at all.

This is exactly the point and why the the FO failed by failing to act in February. You have to be a naive fanboy to not see this coming or so stupid you get fired on your day off. The one thing that sticks out is that previous to the draft he was intending to report without holdout. That much I can't hold against them, dealing with a straight liar, but you have to know what you're dealing with when a player is propositioning another team during the season while under contract. That was unprecedented and tells you a lot about the man...before the offseason even started.

So Vin, let me guess, you know better than the Front Office and/or what they TRULY were offered? Ok
Trading him for the sake of just getting rid of him, when he clearly has a lot of football left in him? Screw that. Make him either sit until he is forced to play after the 6 weeks. Or let him sit until a team offers something up worth trading him for. Shoot, if he plays well, and stays healthy, they can get a good return.
What they offered? Who says they offered anything? Only a dumb boy in love does that, under the circumstances.

You're still in fan mode. Earl means nothing at this point. The FO put themselves in a corner and no other team wants to deal with trash like that. They also can't just be rid of him. It's now making an example of him because they failed to act. With him not being part of the future, that PT now needs to go to other FSs that ARE or are potentially part of the future. You don't waste reps on non-future trash.

What Earl has done this offseason is unprecedented.

Management should of just taken the best offer prior to the draft. We could of really used a 3rd rd pick as part of the rebuild which earl is and does not want to be part of. He is not getting extended here and I really doubt he sits at home this season. Getting anything more than a 3rd or 4th is simply wishful thinking for a player who is about to start diminishing and injured a lot more.

Smart. If you go back and look at all of Earl's picks, about 2/3rds of them are either tipped balls or errant throws. What's a large portion of reasoning for that?

Pass rush. You pay that waaaaay before you pay a deep 3rd safety.

Even if he comes back in week six, or whatever week it is that he will still be able to claim a season, let him rot on the bench.
I am done with his crap. This is a no win situation for him, and really a no win situation for the team. Every player is watching to see what happens. If we give him up for nothing, every player who feels they aren’t being shown respect, is going to do the same thing. Sorry Earl, I respected your game, but the name on the front of the jersey (even though it is in tiny font) is more important than the name on the back. Do not give in JS, it will kill us for a long, long time.

Agreed. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and a 3rd would've been much better than the current unraveling mess.

JS had no problem immediately getting rid of Bennett for only a 5th and a practice squad caliber WR and refusing to match Sherman's prove it deal, but what was it that made him think that hanging onto Earl for no less than a 2nd was going to end well?

Cutting losses maybe, but you also have to draw a line in the sand or you fall to the same situation with the next player that pulls this crap. Maybe time to make an example of a situation. This is a season of learning and adjustment and rebuild, can't think of a better time to also send a contract hold out statement as well. Especially when Earl is doing all the dirtywork himself.

Jones and Davis aren't suitors just because our HOF at his prime Earl ran and pimped himself to them. Heck, he didn't even pimp to Jerrah, he ran and pimp to one of Jerrah's "no personnel decision power" staffs. Talking about dumb ass.

IF Jones and Davis were suitors, Earl would have been off the market weeks ago. Earl dug a hole for himself, and is still digging.

He won't listen to his agent either cause he is his own man.

Why sign a contract to play until 2019 but hold off playing until you get an extension? A contract is a contract. If the team gives an extension early then thank you, but if not, play well to prove your worth until they do give you one.

I understand an injury could cause a loss in value but there are a lot more players who are in worse situations than not being given an extension.

Whole situation has dragged on FAR longer than it should have.

Hard to put blame on JS given we do not know the intricacies of what has happened in months and weeks past but I suspect JS has a price and he's sticking to it. Probably a second + a fourth/fifth.

The issue with this is that JS already has a reputation as an easy mark who will overpay to acquire players and undersell his own players. It needs to stop and a higher baseline needs to be established. Otherwise, we will continue to get jobbed on trades. It is better to keep Earl on the roster than deal an All Pro for peanuts. You are establishing a precedent when you undersell and teams will expect to acquire your talent for a box of jock straps.

But, it's hard to fault JS for not getting a good deal for Thomas. Earl absolutely trashed his reputation and ruined his trade value with his absurd behavior. The Cowboys are bidding against themselves so they have likely offered garbage. It's a terrible situation and Earl really screwed over the team that got him a ring. Largent didn't get a ring. Easley didn't. Tez didn't. Walt didn't. Yet this clown disrespects the enormity of that accomplishment and pisses all over the franchise. The Legion of Boom has wound up the most selfish, entitled group of athletes to ever don the blue and green. Good riddance.

I know some of you guys really believe this is about an extension, but, IMHO, it's fairly obvious this is about a player realizing his time is coming to an end in Seattle and that player wanting one last big payday. His boys are gone and he believes he is still worth a payday to the right team. He either wants traded or rewarded handsomely if he is "forced" to stay with what he considers a fading team. So, I know it's hard for some of you Earl fans, but you've got to realize, it's over.
