If his knee managed to stay stable i guess its possible..some ppl tear them they scar up and heal..got this from a knee surgeon. Not sure how an athlete can do it though..

Wasn't John Elway in the same situation, no ACL? I recall reading that somewhere and never understood how such a thing could be worked around by a pro athlete.

Definitely possible. Once the acute pain and swelling of the injury goes down, the knee has instability, but is functional. The biggest issue, I would think, would be the rotational forces a receiver puts on his knee. Well, the biggest issue is that the longer you go before repair, the more difficult the repair is likely to be. Pretty uncommon, but I can see how it would be possible.
