Kenny Easley’s football legacy can be secured forever Saturday if he is elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A Seahawk from 1981-87 and a member of the team’s Ring of Honor, Easley is one of 18 candidates for this year’s Hall of Fame class, with the potential to become the fourth player who spent his entire career in Seattle to be elected (the others are receiver Steve Largent, defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy and offensive tackle Walter Jones).

Easley, though, says simply being nominated by the Veterans Committee last August has already changed his life.

When the call came, the 58-year-old Easley was three weeks removed from triple bypass heart surgery to fix an ailment whose shocking diagnosis had arrived overnight.

That's why he is getting in on the Veterans committee or whatever it's called, modern day players would not survive in his era long, they are to big of pussies, they think about the money mostly and not the game, won't play with a hang nail many times etc, not all there are still some throw backs, we have a lot on our team, but look around the league, toughness isn't across the board anymore. There are also the tough guys that are whiney bitches, looking at you Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.

I've gone through this exercise every time Easley's name has come up for HOF consideration. There has only been one post merger HOF inductee, Earl Campbell at 8 seasons vs. Easley's 7, with a career that didn't span at least 10 seasons, but his name was much more widely recognized than Easley's is. Also add into the equation that Easley never played in a Super Bowl, which at times can be used as a justification to admit a player that otherwise wouldn't have met the unwritten standards.

If Easley does make it, the HOF would be lowering the bar and forced to consider names they've previously rejected, for example Bert Jones or may have to reject in the future due to career longevity. Plus you have to ask this question: How many players, for example Shaun Alexander, might have made the HOF had their careers ended at 7 seasons? That's the argument Easley's candidacy is going to have to overcome.

I think the importance of this pick is exactly what was said earlier. If you have to game plan away from someone, that person is a force and threat to winning the game. If a person is that great, they meet the requirements to be in the hall.

If another person does what it takes without concern for opposing sides, that needs great consideration. <Running backs and offense in that line of thought. There are leaders and there are followers. Leaders lead teams to championships as much as defenses win them.

The awards show is going on right now, but will be shown on a tape delay. Twitter seems to be leaking the noms/non-noms now.

No word yet on the great #45.

I may even watch it this time....in an Hour and a Half.

According to this source, Ken did not make it, but Jason Taylor, Morten Anderson, and Terrell Davis did. No T.O., either:
