The defense was on the field too much, partly because they didn't play great, the heat, and the offensive game plan, stupid penalties and that fumble. It happens. There were some bright spots but the game plan was really stupid. Bevel, Sherman, Irvin, Miller and Harvin were the goats. They needed to step up their games and they failed. What's next?

San Diego did a great job of exposing Seattle's main weaknesses, pass blocking on offense and pass coverage by the linebackers on defense.
Well, I wouldn't say that our linebackers are a 'weakness' in pass coverage. They are better than most LB corps in that regard. They didn't fare well today against Antonio gates and Philli Rivers, who were both on fire.

I'd Like to see Wilson just step up in the pocket a bit more and delivery the ball downfield. I think he is so used to being able to buy time that he will turn and go backwards when he feels pressure. While his numbers were really good, it just doesnt seem like he was that effective as the numbers seem.
Plus we have two chances to take the lead with the offense at the end of the game and couldnt get it done.
Loved it when he fired to a very well covered Kearse with the nice pass, I just wish he would trust his passing from the pocket a bit more, or just throw it away. The scramble sack in the first Q cost us 3 points. Let it rip Russ...

That being said:

The big problem was the defense, and I think it shows what a good pocket QB can do to even the top defenses at times.

Anyone else ready to cut Irvin yet?

Im so sick of the guy I cant even stand it, he never beats his man one on one. You think that he could eventually win ONE battle on the edge for a supposed pass rush specialist, but no, this guy is such a waste of a first round pick. I wouldnt lose any sleep if this clown was cut tomorrow. The PF play by Irvin when we finally did get a stop, that kept us back on the field, cost us time, energy and 4 points. I have would cut that Mutherfarker right then and there I was so pissed.

Even though SD played a great game, we killed our D with the kickoff fumble and we had way too many stupid penalties. With all of that, we still had a chance to win. The person that had a big slice of humble pie was Sherman. These games are the ones that could cost us HFA. It makes next weeks game more important, that's for sure.

^^^ This ^^
As bad as we played we still were in a position to win the game at the end. They dominated the time of possession and our defense stayed on the field for most of the game. Guess what, if we go down the field on the last drive and score a touchdown, then we win the game. It happens in football. I usually don't post, but dang. We played bad, San Diego played lights out, and we still could've won the freakin game. That's what champions are made of!

I dont know where posters are getting all this 120 degree heat, it was 94 for most of the game... And weather is an excuse, we had to come beat you guys in the rain last year, and we are a horrible team in those conditions. SD came to play today, they executed, they kept your defense on the field. The defense gave up way to many big plays on third down, and honestly it looks like they let their own frustrations beat them. They are a very excitable bunch, and you could see it was different ball game from their body language playing a tough game from behind like that because they just arent use to it anymore.

If you had watched the game you would have seen them show the on field temperature between 115 and 120 degrees at least three times during the broadcast.

That isnt the actual temperature on the field however. You are measuring both the temperature of the field, the suns rays and the temperature of the plastic around the thermometer.

Those readings mean nothing.

Thats why you take official temperature reading in a thermometer shelter.

That's just silly. You can't compare heat and humidity with 120 degree heat on the field to rain. Every team has to play in rain, some just have to do it on the road. Does rain cause cramps and require IVs? Can rain kill people with heat stroke? No, they are not the same, and heat does effect how a team plays.

But 120 degree field heat? In DARK UNIFORMS? The temperature on the field is not the same as the temperature outside of the stadium.

It wasnt 120 degrees.

But I agree the heat had a factor because of the amount of time the defense had to be on the field.
