This free-for-all has got to be embarrassing for the league. it would have been smarter to let him enter the supplemental draft. Then everyone could let the process play out, and interested teams would weigh acquisition with a future draft pick.

Quick bit of news on the situation:

Profootballtalk reports teams can't officially meet with LSU G/T La'El Collins until May 9.
It explains why the Dolphins are sending only players, and not coaches or executives. It's unclear how Bills coach Rex Ryan was able to host Collins for dinner. It means the race for Collins might not really heat up until Saturday.

I read the loophole is simply that they cannot meet them on the college campus or at their home. Rex Ryan met him at an Applebees in NOLA.

He'll probably pick a team in the South since he's from Louisiana and played at LSU.

How good would the Hawks look if they could get him and Chris Myers on the starting O-line though.

I'm surprised that he is still on campus taking classes and prepping for exams?

Appears he definitely wants to play OT

From Rotoworld:

"LSU G/T La'El Collins wants to sign with a team that will allow him to play tackle.
Collins is drawing heavy interest after going undrafted last weekend. The Baton Rouge Police should clear Collins' name in the murder of his ex-girlfriend shortly, allowing Collins to sign with a team. Playing tackle will help maximize his earnings on a second contract since he won't be getting paid much the first two years in the league. The Dolphins would seem to be longshots to land Collins with this news, being that they already have LT Branden Albert and RT Ja'Wuan James.

I know a place where he could play LT in a scheme that values power run blocking . . .

^ interesting that it says he was cleared and then only references his lawyer saying that he met and answered all the questions.

I hope he is cleared (if innocent) but will wait to believe it until the police makes an announcement

Omar Kelly is reporting that Seattle is a front runner for Lael Collins. And the Cowboys.

If we got him... My god.

I think this is actually a very exciting situation. How often does a first round talent enter UDFA and get to pick where he goes?

Surprised that none of the teams grabbed him w/at least a 7th rounder.

Report came out that he'd sit out the year and re-enter the 2016 draft next year. Seems like most teams would rather take their chances on him as an UDFA then draft him and have the situation potentially blow up.

Was Bo Jackson the last player to actually sit out the year and re-enter the draft?

If our team supposedly has high interest in La'el Collins, the real question is what position he would play if he was a Seahawks. Would he replace Britt at RT and Britt would move to guard? Or would he replace Okung when he gets injured, and then start there once Okung leaves in FA in 2016?

These are the real questions IMO, as Collins has stated he wants to play tackle.

Actually, teams were/are just waiting for him to be cleared of wrong doing. No one wants to take on guy who could be convicted of murder before he plays his first game.

Seattle is perfect for him. IMO it is one of the few places where he could play LT and excel, because of what we want from our linemen. Put him at LG for a year, and slide him right over into Okung's place in 2016.

Collins is a RT for most teams, a guard for a few, but in Seattle he is Cable's ideal LT. Adequate against the pass, but a killer in the run game.

Applebees huh? Wow Rex, way to roll out the red carpet for the guy. He treat him to a matinee movie on a groupon before hand too?
