They sunk so much capital into Trey Lance. Things were looking dire. They had a really talented, but aging team. And nothing at QB.

But then Purdy came along, and played at a level the 49ers hadn't seen in a long time. The new savior. Some called the next Joe Montana (No, really. Some said that.)

And things honestly would've been fine going forward. Their Super Bowl Window would be wide open. It is when you have the "Real Deal" at QB.

But as we've seen over these last few weeks--Brock Purdy turn into a pumpkin.

But that is only 1 of their caustic wounds…

Kyle Shanahan had the genius idea to hire a DC that was not familiar with the defense they were already running. And is forcing him to use their scheme. This one decision has taken the #1 defense in the NFL down to a middle of the pack defense, with largely the same players.

The DC hire is the #4 most important guy in the building as it pertains to football. You cannot get this hire wrong or it will cost you. Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers got it wrong.

#1 Being QB
#2 Being HC
#3 Being GM
#4 Being DC (Most HCs are former OCs, making OC less valuable than DC as the HC is the defacto OC.)
#5 Being OC

Next is Bosa, they're paying him a kajillion dollars, and he isn't even close to being anywhere worth that.

CMC, yes short term, great trade. Long term, it's more capital flushed to assist in the rebuild.

LT-Great, but a dinosaur. The old fossil will likely retire after this season. Creating a huge hole on a not so great O-Line.

The 49ers do not have a lot of young, long term building blocks. And if Purdy isn't the guy, well… that creates another cavernous hole to a soon to be decrepit roster.

49ers fans, I'd like to know. Who are the 49ers players currently age 25 or younger, still under contract through at least next year that are your building block players?

Purdy?
Aiyuk, though technically a Free Agent (not under contract)
Hufanga
Lenoir

I'm just not seeing a lot here. Help me out.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are loaded with 25 and under guys that ARE longterm building blocks.

This is the 49ers last shot at being Division Champs. And that is up in the air as they currently sit in 2nd place, and not looking good.

The crazy thing is the guy responsible for this mess. Kyle Shanahan, just got extended!

Brock Purdy is neither the next Joe Montana, nor a pumpkin. He’s a damn good QB, with a genius OC as a head coach. My best guess is that Purdy is Cousins tier.

Buuuut, if Shanahan stays true to form, he will turn Purdy into a pumpkin right in front of our eyes.

The Niners are hosed for the future, but they only have 3 or four tough games left this season. They could still pull the NFCW crown, if Geno doesn’t get it together, and Purdy’s concussion miraculously gets better.

Yeah, either way--Kyle is gonna turn Purdy into a vegetable.

Brock Purdy, if you're reading this. (Which I know you are.)

Save yourself and get as far away from Kyle as possible! Or don't. It's your funeral, bud.

This is glorious boner creating news.

I'm hoping SF keeps getting worse in every way and stacking the L's. Dissention, injuries , demotions, feces.

Going into Week 9 of 2023 the 49ers are -300 for the NFC West with the Seahawks at +250. The 49ers are +600 for the Super Bowl whilst the Seahawks are +3000. Sportsbooks don't agree with the op's assessment.

The 9ers are far from done. They will still be competitive. It's not like Purdy turned into a Pumpkin. He's still a really good player.

And the D is out of sync, but still a good unit when they get their issues sorted.

I dont buy the loss in trade capital as bring some Achilles heal for them. Unless you are drafting high, draft picks are a crap shoot. Look at the Ravens. They have unanimously been seen as one of the best drafting teams in the league. And they've seen a consistent drop in talent, not because they don't have the picks, but rather because they don't pick at spots that can fill the cupboards.

If the 9ers want to keep their window open, they have the trade cap in talent to barter with

Their window hasn't closed, but they're no more talented than the other legitimate contenders (including Seattle).

So if the Hawk were 5-3 week 9 they should just fold and call it closed. I mean seriously, think about this thread.

The thread may be mistitled a bit. Their SB hasn't closed, but I think it's fair to speculate that their window as a potential juggernaut has closed.

So if the Hawks lose Sunday?

This thread brings bad mojo. I'll say my opinion: the 49ers today are still the better, more complete team than the Seahawks. That could change due to foreseen and unforeseen things.

If I was a Niners fan, I'd be stoked. A Fade Take probably just made that team even better :ROFLMAO:
The list is so long, I don't even need to bring up the bad takes......too many of them.
Niner window closed AND the division? Yeah, not so much.

The Niners are in the same boat they've been in for almost 12 years. A great defense, skill talent all over the place..........but a not good enough QB to win it all.

Purdy's no different. Savvy, smart, but not enough measurables to win close games, or have the game put on his shoulders. Especially without his full compliment of All Pro skill players.
