If I had to guess I'd say Bennett is more in the Suggs range, a 3-4 year deal at 7-8M per with half of that guaranteed. We just have to hope someone like GB or Philly doesn't jump in and offer more.

LOL wow. He's going to find out very quickly that he's not going to get what he wants. He had a similar statistical season in nowhere USA (TAMPA) the year prior and no one noticed him. Now he was a part of a SB winning D and he wants to double his annual salary?

How does a worse season merit a salary jump from 5.5 to 10? He'll get 7.5MM in my opinion, and I think it will be from Seattle.

I'm fine with letting another team waste that much money on him. I'll never forget Bennett if he leaves...he helped bring a Lombardi and for that I am ever grateful for him.

On a related note...how much do you think winning a Super Bowl factors into the players' desired salaries? Not for the fact that they have proven they can win a Super Bowl and therefore are good players, but the idea that some of these players don't see winning another Super Bowl as their goal anymore, and instead of a goal of making as much money as possible and then retiring as a wealthy super-bowl winning player?

Well that's how negotiations work. Say a large number and then the opposing side says a number too low. Let's hope we can get him for somewhere in the middle. Geez.

Hmm, 10 Mil. a Year eh?, so let me think about this for just a Minute............... Bye.
I can sign TWO pretty good players for that amount.
There might be someone out there that will pay him that kind of money, but John Schneider has to consider the kind of strain that would be put on the CAP, and who he would have to cut from the team, to make that happen.

When I decided to sell my house, I listed it for what I would "love" to get for it but had a real life figure in mind.

Just part of the negotiating process, start high settle for a bit lower.

I would say he probably can't get it but with the Raiders sitting out there with 60 mil in cap space you just never know.

He probably wanted $10m last year too.

Not saying he won't get it, but he will probably have to settle for less, and I'm sure he knows it.

Bennett had basically the same season last year with the Bucs and got no offers anywhere near that. Granted he had more exposure this year and will probably get a Super Bowl champion premium but I don't see him getting anything near that. If he does, more power to him.

He wont get 10 million from us. If he is pushing hard on that number, id expect we let him test free agency. If someone pays it, tough loss, good for him though. If not, he comes back around 7-8/per. He has built up quite the ego.

Go on wit ya bad self Michael Bennett! For your sake i hope you get it. But for OUR sake, I hope you get it somewhere else.

I love the guy and what he brings and would be happy to have him for another 3-4 years, but not at that price. To a degree, i think he's a bit of a product of the system. He was finally the right piece we needed in that system and was the guy who got to benefit, but I don't see Bennett bringing all that much more to the table than Greg Scruggs could.

No, if $10m/per (or anywhere close to it) is the cost of Bennett, I hope we spend the money on Tate. We can system and scheme around Bennett's absence, but we can't on offense.
