Even though it is only a marginal increase in the difficulty this is a good rule change. Nothing should be automatic. Next rule change should be reducing the width of the goal post. Equipment changes and training have made it too easy. Just like the lengthening of golf courses to balance out equipment and training improvements, this is a good thing for the game.
