When the new rules emphasis was first brought up a month ago, one of the reps tweeted that not a single Seahawks play was in the example video of things to look for. Or boys are already doing things correctly. Nothing to see here.

Seattle led the NFL in defensive backfield penalties last year and won the SB. Their omission is obviously intentional as to avoid being obvious about it.

Considering that OPI is also going to get flagged, that should help Seattle immensely. For example, Demaryius Thomas clearly interfered with Sherman when Manning overthrew the ball and the Worm had his eyes set on it. 2 or 3rd and 20 = a feast of awfulness for the offense.

Shoot, Craptree clearly pushed off on Sherm and he still made the play. That stuff does need to go both ways, if a WR pushes off, he should be called for it.

Do the new rules target the Seahawks, yes, every time the Seattle Seahawks have shown an advantage be it the Kingdome, the Joe Nash injury rule, or LOB they have come out with a new rule against us. We have overcome, I don't think offensive pass interference will be called anymore then now, why would they limit offense when they are trying to create it. It was a sentence thrown in to say they are balancing the scale.

Now with all that, this team works as technicians on their craft, technique and positioning and homework. Those that are lazy and feel their god given talent will get them by are the ones that are going to get hurt the most. Peterson in Phoenix being one, he is a freak athlete but a lot less technical in his approach.

We will get thru this, we have Adderall, we have holding and grabbing, piped in crowd noise, Paul Allen buying people to decode Mannings line calls, just waiting for the next reason that we win and that others don't so they can make a new rule to try to stop the Seahawks.

Oh it gets called... See SEA @IND, 2013. Even when it's not there. Was called on Kearse against HOU as well.

I was just so sick of ticky-tack penalties called on us last year, especially in the secondary. I fully expect it to be worse this year because of the "emphasis" that happened to come down from the NFL on the year after we won the Super Bowl in such lopsided fashion. You can bet the teams we face are praising the NFL for this rule in hopes it will be used against us. I'm excited for this year too, but I'm ready to be annoyed by the flag parades that will be thrown in our games.

I predict it'll have an impact early. And it'll be more pronounced with some crews more than others. Notably less experienced crews or those that already were flag happy to begin with.

As the season progresses, I would expect the focus on the new rules to revert to the norm. This has happened repeatedly over the last several years as it pertains to new emphases on rule enforcement. And for sure, I'd expect it to be almost completely abandoned in the post season.

This rule change should impact quicker/faster WRs more than slower possession types. So I would expect Baldwin/Harvin/Richardson to thrive in that kind of game.

Ultimately, I don't see it as much of a big deal. This defense is more about physicality, pass rush and tackling. Those aren't affected by the new rules. I like our ability to adapt to the new rules more than our competition.

Good point Laloosh. Made me think of that call on Tate. One of the worst calls in history. My wife said "what did he do?"
My response was "Nothing, he just caught the ball, nothing else"

If it's called the same for everyone all's well if not then we have a problem. . The Giants vs Bills game I saw plenty of contact downfield and nothing was called .

I think Goodell is hell bent on making sure that classic pocket passers thrive, as he is undoubtedly noticing the trend that mobile, less "marketable" players are taking over the QB position in the NFL. He wants folks like Brady, Manning, and Brees to be the face of the NFL, not necessarily, Wilson, Kapernick, Manziel, etc. Goodell is a marketing guy and I suspect that is where he is coming from.

The problem he has is the NFL can only take what colleges give them. Now, the top QB prospects are increasingly mobile guys. The top 4 QBs for next year's draft are Winston, Hundley, Marriotta and Petty, all mobile guys (don't let Petty's skin color fool you, he had 12 rushing TDs last year).

It is just annoying. He's trying to hold back the game, and now, a scrub off the street can pass for 3,000.

A part of me wants Manning to throw for 8,000 yards so people can see how absurd this is getting. The NFL is now a cross between the CFL and Arena football. Goodell has to be the worst commissioner of all time.

The owners and coaches who got in to Goodell's ear about this rule change are going to be pissed when their teams get called for it and it makes the game completely unwatchable. I just don't understand why every year they need to change things.

Remember they are not really rule changes, they are focused enforcement of what is already in place.

In my opinion, it's they call the incidental ticky tack stuff and throw in offensive pass interference in the verbage to make everyone believe the NFL is not one sided.
