I actually don't have a problem with off-duty cops working security for the team. That would seem to be the right place to find qualified people.

What I do have a problem with is one of those guys trying to protect a player from the law.

THAT is why I want to know what McDonald told him and what he did while on the scene. Clearly didn't help McDonald that much as he was arrested anyway, but if that cop tried to prevent an arrest to protect a client, there is a serious problem.

Off duty cops? Or retired cops?

We are not talking about the guys working the stands. Everyone expects that, in fact there are more cops in the stands here in Seattle than there are likely regular security. This subject is about something a lot closer to the team/players and likely just not this one person. Travel? Escort? Phone Calls? That sounds like a job for full time Niner security, not an employee of the SJPD.

This is as nasty as a shitty diaper.

You know what's funny? Marvin would have had a field day around here if we had defended the Seahawks as vigorously during our string of PED hits a couple years ago as he defends the 49ers now. We've been rather easy on him, and I'm not certain he deserves it.

?

When have I said ANYTHING about PEDs? If I've said ANYTHING ever on this site it's been in support because ALL teams will eventually get stung by players taking PEDs.

Come on man...don't put words in my mouth. I've defended my team, but I've never attacked anyone here on PEDs etc.
You completely and utterly missed the point, and I never said that you said anything about PEDs. Reread it.

Marvin you seem to be holding out that everyone needs 100% proof that things are as they appear. That just doesn't fly in the internet age. The truth is none of us will ever know what was said or did exactly even if it does go to court. People are telling you that it stinks to holy hell of a cover up, your saying no cant be unless I know exactly what was said. It's a bunch of crap to have a team friendly officer on site before any other officer period!

No, I understood you just fine.

Don't put words in my mouth. I would NOT be having a "field day". It happens to every team and I wouldn't be giving you crap about it for defending your team.

Nice example of putting words in my mouth.

Where did I say it "can't be". I said it looks bad and looks like a conflict of interest.

Why is that not good enough?

Ok "can't be" wasn't said by you was a oversimplification. Why cant that fact that he was arrested and called a officer that is team friendly be enough to say that it isn't just "looks bad"? He allegedly battered his pregnant fiancé, he didn't dial 911 he did call a team cop. That is great for a CYA type thing, can anyone prove without a doubt that he did beat her no. There is way more than a reasonable suspicion that he did and the wheels of the police dept. move incredibly slow there. The men who were in the bathroom brawl however were arrested and charged in less than three days. Wonder why it is that it takes months to get a 49er to charged.

Can't answer a lot of that because it isn't answerable.

I've said from the beginning that if he's guilty I want him off the team. Period.

Him calling team security does look bad. I dunno how else to say it. It doesn't prove anything one way or the other...it simply looks bad. In the same way as Rays fiancé holding a gun until RAY called 911 several months earlier. Doesn't specifically indicate anything...but looks bad.

That cop was also the first guy on scene which suggests he was called BEFORE 911 was called...which is also odd. That's why I want to know what he was called for and more importantly what he did while onsite and what he told the officers who arrived after the 911 call. If he obstructed....that's really, really bad juju.

This is the deal tho on that officer to me...he's team security. The players are likely told to call if they need help...IE if they are in a club and some people feel the need to be tough guys with famous athletes, or whatever. These are recognizable athletes and the team will help them with security when they need it.

So, was Ray calling because he was in a bad situation and needed help or was he calling because he knew he just messed up bad and was hoping for preferential treatment from the cops. If it was the latter it appears at least so far that he didn't get it (he was arrested).

I've said over and over that I don't know what happened. I kinda believe that peeps deserve the benefit of the doubt before anything is proven. You could say that's the homer in me but I really feel that way with players on all teams and people in general. Being famous makes you a target and most often I prefer not to convict peeps until its been proven...or at the very least there is ANY information released.

Marvin reminds me of this Chappelle episode

http://on.cc.com/QDjE4m

LOL That's a funny portrait.

Chappelle is not on Marvin's approved comedians list. I'm going to have to ask you to delete that post.
Well, here I thought I was joking when I called you a 49ers fan last week. Geez... ;)
