"Picking Teams"

The draft is just a more sophisticated way of "picking teams." You know when you were a kid in the neighborhood or in gym class and you had to "pick teams" to play a game of two-hand-touch football. There would be two team captains, and they would of course always pick the best football player kids first, and the sad sack kids who were maybe too fat or too small or whatever would always get picked last.

It's a brutal world. Play as a child prepares you for the harsh realities of the adult world.

Well, it used to. It doesn't help when everyone gets a trophy.
