As long as you have a good brigand and strong defense out doors is good. If you’re a finesse passing team not so much. Hence our great home field advantage of yore.

My vote's both - roof that can open and natural grass.

Surprised no one has mentioned: "If you never want to host a superbowl - go ahead and build and open air stadium".

Just saying.

It's a business decision. The nicer the conditions inside the stadium the higher the demand for tickets and the more you can charge. On the cost side roofs are expensive to build and costly to maintain. Stadia have to be multi-purpose because 9 NFL games per year for 30 years isn't going to justify the cost.
That’s why you build them with the seats covered, field uncovered.

I like how the Colts stadium is set up for both..It makes more sense for the Bills to do this also.
