HOOORAYYY!!! Glad the drama is over!!

I'm glad Okung got paid, and I'm really appreciative of everything he did here for us. It's too bad he was marred by injuries, now watch him be injury free at Denver :D

Good luck Okung, and Godspeed. You deserve it! Denver overpaid, but that's fine by me. Comp picks!!

Let's bet avatars on it. If he goes back to the Hawks its a draw. If he nets a 4th or higher comp pick you get to pick my avatar for a month, and if he nets a 5th round or lower comp pick I get to pick your avatar for a month. :th2thumbs:

OK, deal . . . that sounds fair.

Unfortunately, we will not know the official results for a year. But at least I will enjoy lording the comp projections over you.

Hey Popeye,

What do you want your avatar to be?

Sure, it would have been nice if he went to a tackle-needy team who pick before us but looking at this draft there's more chance of there being a very good tackle at #26 than a great edge d-lineman.

Pretty crazy how the Seahawks haven't been able to develop a single OL worth re-signing in Cable's 5-year tenure.

Saw this one twitter - Crazy if you think about it yet Cable is never the problem. Wilson is young but he is also smaller than most QB's. Seahawks need to start getting serious about investing in Oline before their franchise QB gets seriously injured.

Wilson is shorter but not "smaller" than other QBs. He's built extremely solidly and has more muscle mass than most QBs out there, which is likely how he has avoided injury to date.

Your main point is correct however in that it feels like we are really rolling the dice allowing him to be hit so much. At some point, he will come down with a significant injury. I'm not thrilled with the way we've addressed the offensive line thus far. Of course, the draft is yet to come and trades are always a possibility as well.

Kinda disappointed by this, leaves another big whole on the oline to fill.

Did you really think he was coming back?

Personally I would have been more disappointed today if they would have brought him back at the dollars he got from Horse Face..

I'm disappointed with the fact that we haven't brought anyone in yet that could potentially fill the hole if/when Okung left. I am not as confident as others are around here in Gilliams ability to slide over from RT to LT.

Hopefully Donald Penn is getting a call.

This dampens this FA period for me. Getting Okung (or another solid LT) would've made this period an overall success. But without that, it's quite underwhelming to me. Hard to see how we're any better than last year. Everything hinges on either the draft or trading for a half-broken Ryan Clady.

This is pretty much how I feel.

I think we really needed Okung back to solidify an already piece meal line full of a lot of pieces, but very few above average pieces.

Penn resigned with the Raiders.

That's not true. They can get as good an LT at 56 as they could at 26 because Tunsel, Conklin and the guy from Notre Dame will be long gone. As athletic as Spriggs is, I don't think he will hold up well and may be injury prone in the NFL. So I would not take him at 26.

Andrew Billings is the one for me. :D

I'm pretty sure that Denver is going to cut Ryan Clady, and we can sign him for a decent deal. When he's on, he's one of the best in the NFL, but Broncos wanted him to take a pay cut and he refused.

And....

Broncos agree with Russell Okung, expected to trade Ryan Clady

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14997 ... ryan-clady

"The Denver Broncos and Ryan Clady were in talks about a possible pay cut/restructure, but those talks fell apart recently. It was reported on Wednesday that the Broncos wanted Clady back at less than $5 million dollars per season. Obviously, Clady was not too thrilled about that and now he is likely to be traded or cut in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Clady is due a little over $10 million dollars in 2016 and has a $10.6 million dollar cap hit in 2017. The Broncos will have to find a team willing to take on that contract for a player who has missed nearly two out of the last three seasons due to injury.

It is unclear which teams will be interested in trading for Clady, but teams like the Bears, Lions, Giants, and others could be interested. If traded, the team who traded for Clady will also likely approach Clady about a pay cut/restructure."

http://www.milehighreport.com/2016/3/17 ... ryan-clady

"Clady is due to earn $9.5 million in 2016, the fourth year of a five-year contract signed after application of the franchise tag in 2013. So far, he has made $33 million but played in only 18 regular-season games.

Cutting him would cost only $1.2 million against the cap, and there’s no trigger that would force the Broncos to make a decision before Week One, when Clady’s salary becomes as a practical matter guaranteed. However, it would be prudent to resolve the situation before the start of the offseason program, since a fluke season-ending injury to Clady would put the Broncos on the hook for the full salary — and a cap number of $10.6 million."

Whatever you think of this deal for this specific player, there is still a gigantic hole on the roster. I don't see any contingencies here besides blind faith in the #26 overall pick.
The Broncos won the SB with Ryan Harris starting, which should make you feel a bit better.

I am glad we didn't fork over that much money for the guy who always seemed to have a nagging injury and always seemed a play away of being out for the season..

I sure hope there is someone out there for us though. We can't just not have an offensive line next year .

We can't just not have an offensive line next year. LOL That part is just funny right there. Can't remember the last time I actually laughed when reading a comment. Good times...

Seems like this is the kind of contract we would have offered him? Lower base with lots of incentives to stay healthy after all his injuries.

Maybe Okung will come out and tell us what we offered, because it seems like this is the kind of deal we could have at least matched.

Details show it's a pretty decent deal for Denver:

[tweet]https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/710571623468826624[/tweet]

[tweet]https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/710571244261908480[/tweet]

If they don't pick up the 4-year option, Seattle's draft comp will be negligible at best.
