...If you are all offended by this comment, go ahead. Have a ball. Just more hyperbole that Lynch has admittedly (by me) just made worse. I've heard FAR, FAR worst from one Richard Sherman and have been told very similarly to make less of it than most Niner fans would.

Kinda hypocritical if you ask me, but clearly you weren't. No worries. Just think at times peeps get all insulted by comments from 20 something year old rich men (and I use that term lightly) who are paid to run into each other for a living.

[etc]

4) Lastly...comment about me...really? Dude. Come on. You're better than that.
And you're better than starting responses with things like ".........". Implying you are speechless by what someone says just comes off as pretentious and obnoxious. It's not necessary, and yet I see you do it all the time. Stop doing that, it makes you look immature.

As for Lynch, whatever. It's a non-story. Let's not kid ourselves: if this was one of our players, this thread would be littered with effusive praise like "I love the attitude", "great to have guys on the team that care so much", etc... Lynch is actually a pretty good player too. He's probably just frustrated that the rivalry doesn't exist anymore and that San Francisco is a shadow of its former self.

And that Brooks was not released as expected, so he will probably be relegated once again to a backup role.

If I were a Niners fan, I would be embarrassed by this statement, not proud of it.

In this case, it's not meant as "speechless". Just a pause in speech. A way to post what I intend to say verbally complete with cadence. Not proper English to be sure, but not intended to be.

Now if I start a post with...

"...................................................."

THAT would be speechless. I DO do that sometimes. If you think that makes me immature, feel free. It pales in comparison to what I get here on a regular basis.

Seattle taked when they showed what they could do, this guy is talking and nobody knows what is going to happen this year with the Niners, calling out the Seahawks and rest of the NFL when your reeling from what has happened there isn't smart, the league know your going to try to out physical everyone or at least saying so will bring more Vernon Davis type hits on 49er players.

This is what comes to mind for me.

Hey Marvin, what do you think went through Vernon's head when he heard/read this lil speech?

As many posters have already pointed out. Who cares. This is seen as a dumb jock statement from a lessor teams player. It does more to make him look stupid than to cause concern and like the question above, you can bet there are players on his team that really wish he hadn't made the comment.

But overall like my sig says, the Lion doesn't concerm himself with the opinion of the sheep. But thanks for the locker room bulletin material. I'm sure Kam will give it a once over before we take the field against you.

The Patriots are the current lion, they probably don't concern themselves any of this.

But words he now has to back up.
Good luck with that. Seriously who is this guy? I can smell the fear from here and I'm halfway across the country.

Let me tell you now this is one lucky ass squad this year, let me hold my tongue cuz god knows on the field i aint holding shit back. Im so ready for this season to start and show the world that the #Niners aint nobody to **** wit. Seattle better get they mothaf***** mind right and put on they helmet and tighten the **** out of they chin strap cuz im knockin some f**** blocks off. We is #WARREADY #LynchMobb #49ers

What a clown.

# LynchMobb...really? For a guy named Lynch who was raised in Florida (nearly 300 lynchings since 1880's) to be using this as his calling card is ignorance. Fake tough and stupidity to boot. #Southern trees bear strange fruit.

Why so focused on the Hawks? Doesn't he know the Cardinals are going to win the NFC West this year?

Nah, that would be kind of surprising.

Lynch beat out Lemonier in Week 4 for playing time on passing downs, and Brooks' issue last year (and his blowup on the sideline) was because in Week 11 he lost his starting job to Lynch.

They'd swap in and out as starter depending on the matchup (with Lynch always in on passing downs either way), but that he wouldn't have the same role or greater than he did last year because Brooks is still on the team doesn't make any sense, given that he already beat him out for passing downs, and has already been starting intermittently over him.

FWIW Brooks is still on the team for three reasons, and the only reason there was ever talk of him being a cap casualty in the first place IS Aaron Lynch.

Those reasons:

1) Willis' unexpected retirement freed up the cap room to keep Brooks at his salary.

2) Nobody expected the Jaguars to overpay Skuta as much as they did (I think the team thought they'd be able to get him back at a lower price point than Brooks).

3) Borland's unexpected retirement (on top of Willis') created a totally unplanned for hole at ILB, and Brooks has ILB experience, making him more valuable overall to the squad (behind the starters, before the draft, the 9ers just have two special teams specialists and Shane Skov on the PS); Brooks sliding over in a pinch is actually useful now.

I also want to point out that if someone talked like that about me, I couldn't take em seriously. It just screams fake tough guy. Much like everyone else on that team with the exception of Bowman, that dudes a rider. Everyone else? Kiiiiinda suspect.

I know nobody here (save for marvin) really cares, but just because I was curious and am bored as hell at work:

Here's full season defensive snap % for 9ers OLBs:

ZSwCZ5q

What we don't get from that is:

1) Aldon's overall defensive snap % is low because he missed the first 11 weeks.

2) Skuta missed weeks 10-12

3) Lemonier started the season getting a good number of snaps and then lost those to Lynch and Skuta.

These three things create a lot of noise, as you can see below in the defensive snap % by week for all of the 9ers' OLBs:

Alj42gv

Given that we're talking about Brooks and Lynch, we can look at their snaps over time to see if the stated hypothesis is a reasonable one: Brooks returning to the team next year will cause Lynch to lose snaps. As admitted there's tons of noise (players not being availabe to take a % of defensive snaps due to injury), but Lynch and Brooks (thankfully) were both healthy the entire year, and the trend lines for Brooks and Lynch can therefore tell us something (even though we're forcing a linear relationship on something nonlinear):

RRLzv1p

Basically the story here is that the return of Aldon Smith was the decline of Brooks; Lynch's snaps were "Aldon proof."
If you watched the whole season you know that this is because Lynch took Brooks' spot and Brooks slid over to Aldon's spot until Aldon returned, at which point he shared his spot with Lynch.

In any case, the major takeaway here is that there's no reasonable argument justified by the data that concludes that the return of Brooks to the team will take snaps away from Lynch.

instead, the question is what will happen to Skuta's snaps? Will the majority of them got to Lynch, Brooks, or Lemonier?

Given that Skuta was disproportionately playing on passing downs, the most reasonable conclusion is that they'll go first to Lynch with the remainder going to Brooks or Brooks and Lemonier.

Long story short, assuming his level of play stays the same, Lynch will likely have a bigger role this year, and the gradual increase in his % of defensive snaps last year over the course of the season will take a jump because of the absence of Skuta. We even have more evidence to support this: Lynch played 77% of snaps (compared to his 49% average across the year) in the three games that Skuta missed.
