I'd say it's because the Saints couldn't reach the end zone and settled for chip shot FG's in the 1st half. Or because Brees threw a pick on the game winning drive in OT.

I understand that sometimes the easiest answer is the most comforting. We can agree to disagree on perspectives.

"Rams are magically handed a Super Bowl"

The Rams we arguably the best team in the league this season. Don't think they'll have trouble filling seats once the new stadium is opened, super bowl or not.

No team in L.A. fills the seats if they are not winning except the Lakers and even now that is getting easier to get seats for I have heard.

The Chargers could not even fill a 35,000 seat Stadium.

Believe it or not, before Wilson arrived, it was pretty easy to get Hawks tickets. After Holmgren left, you could buy tickets from the box office at face value (see: Mariners).

Yeah but in L.A it has been going on for 50 years

Well, they took care of us the last 3 times we've faced each other. Don't know who's "worshipping" the Rams here, but they certainly deserve to be in the Super Bowl. Saints should've blown 'em out in the Superdome if they were that much better.

Could also argue the Patriots are Super Bowl impostors too, had the Chiefs offense showed up in the first half of the AFC Championship.

This is the NFL, it's far more about being hot at the right time, and most importantly being healthy at the right time.

No one really "deserves" to win a championship, or dominates wire to wire during a season. Heck last time that happened was the Patriots, and the Giants beat them in the SB.

Exactly. Being healthy is huge, and being the hot team going in certainly helps. And some seasons, you just get a lot of the breaks and bounces. Some seasons, a crap non-call puts you IN the Super Bowl

Player health is critical and the Seahawks did have to overcome the hurdle of having two of the highest paid NFL safeties on the IR list.

However, that was only part of the difficulty as we also had significant dead cap charges for Michael Bennett, Jeremy Lane, Richard Sherman, Tom Johnson, Jermaine Kearse, Ahtyba Rubin, and Brandon Marshall among others. More than $22 million in dead money total, and we had just $125m in total active contracts at the end of the season compared to the $175m salary cap. It's hard to compete when ~30% of your salary cap is being wasted.

Disagree. I believe Carroll and Schneider have been incredible and from a FO perspective, visionaries with the draft.

But...we've also made some poor decisions with player acquisitions & trades.

This is probably the most realistic take yet on the Pete/John regime. It's nice to see something that isn't black and white.

As for coaching, stubbornness simply doesn't work in today's league. The mentality has to shift but I highly doubt it will.

It was the same league in 2013 and 2014 that it is today.
