Ruvell Martin? Really? Wasn't he on the team in 2010?

I understand practicing a TE because of Luke, but why Martin?

Ruvell did have that big catch for us in the week 17 win over the Rams in 2010. So umm, that's something at least.

TE is Travis Beckum. Both are tall players. Martin's weight was last listed as 218, so he could be a bit heavier and looked at as a tweener TE/WR,

Sounds like two options for Luke Willson replacement if needed.

Ruvell Martin is an odd duck,
for some reason he was a GOD on madden 10
it was almost glitch worthy some of the catches he would bring down.

not so much in reality (and at TE??) oh well, I trust pete.

Beckum was a Badger I'm pretty sure. Probably has familiarity with Russell if they overlapped.

Nah. Beckum was drafted in 2009.

Beckum is not tall, he's a 6-3 "move TE" who has been out of football this season but was a decent player with the Giants who started in their last Super Bowl win before injuries took their toll. He was gone from UW a couple years before Russell was there.

Pete and John are always working out players and more often than not, nothing comes of it. It's just part of their process to look at as many people as possible and put that information into a file so when necessary, they can make a quick decision if they need to pick someone up. I think it's pretty standard procedure around the league, but Pete and John seem to be pretty good at weeding through other teams' trash heaps

Sorry. I meant that in relation to the WR corp.

Wonder if they want Ruvell Martin as a pass-catching TE to replace Willson. Not sure if that is even possible for him to move there or if he has any experience with that, but I remember him being a decent blocker.
