Thanks for the explanation. When would the Allocation Order be used instead of a DP? Why doesn't Xavi qualify for the Allocation Order?

Allocation order is used almost exclusively for US Internationals returning to MLS after playing abroad.

The only thing outside of this is if two clubs put in claims on the same player on the same day.

Xavi won't qualify for the allocation order because:

A: He's Spanish.
and
B: His Salary will be over the league threshold for DP's....also known as The Dempsey Rule.

Kenny Cooper IS NOT heading to Sweden, that appears to be a rumor surrounding another player in MLS.


However, It appears that Cooper is about to be traded to Montreal in exchange for Draft picks and Allocation $$

Rumor is that he declined both an international transfer and a trade to Montreal.

The only thing known about the player is that his Sounders future is over.

Kind of a weird deal... but he's the exact type of player the Sounders should be moving on from.

Wonder why he declined, but I guess saving 250k in salary is just as good as whatever pittance worth of allocation cash we would have got for him.

Great three points for the Sounders tonight. Played a man down for thirty four minutes and still grabbed the W. Honestly, they missed prime opportunities for two more goals while short-handed.

Came here to state this. Speculations are that it is for other business that would tie in to playing career here later.

I doubt he does the MLS now.

Could if he plays during the PSG off-season. He is 34 and has only next year left on his PSG contract.

Pretty sloppy from Seattle's side. Rose played OK, but the Sounder's form is far more cohesive with Pappa in the lineup. Plus after Pineda got sent off, it was pure survival mode. So not exactly the most attractive soccer to watch.

As much as I've hated on Evans, he has played better since the SJ match. I still don't want him at CM long term.

I disagree. The Sounders kept attacking and should have slotted two more goals while short handed. They didn't go to bunker ball until there were only ten minutes remaining.
