Regardless of whether they thought they had the first or not, they should've challenged anyway. You got a CHANCE of overturning the call, and you get a timeout out of it anyway.

I have no idea why they didn't throw the flag. I think they were waiting for the flag to be thrown and that's what caused the delay.

Yeah seems they waited too long for the replay dudes to check it and get back.

Pete is usually good about doing this. Throwing the challenge when it'd benefit the team, regardless of whether the actual challenge is a slam dunk win. Frustrating.
