Instead of paying the likes of Greg Olsen, BJ Finney and Phillip Dorset (that's what, $13 million right there?) ... they could have and should have put the money towards Everson Griffen or traded for Yannick Ngakoue, or any number of other options across the board. Maybe they tried and it just didn't happen? I don't know.
The whole player management plan this off-season seemed weird.

Do you really think the price for Clowney, Griffen and Ngakoue was anywhere close to 13 million at the time we brought in Olsen, Finney and Dorsett? If you do, you don't understand how this works.
And football is a game of attrition. You are sometimes better off having great depth at as many spots as possible than having one great player than can go down at any time. So we've created very good depth at WR, OL, TE, RB so that Wilson can maintain weapons. We are going to ride him all year like the Packers ride Rogers and the Chiefs ride Mahomes. It is a way to win.
We won SB 48 because we had few injuries on a great team and we lost SB 49 because we had too many injuries on a great team. It's as simple as that.
No point in doom and glooming the off season when in the end, injuries determine a team's fate more than FO wheeling and dealing.
