It's not the cold. It's the 50 mph with snow falling 3-6 inches per hour. Do you know what can happen to people in weather like that? Snow blows into their lungs and they drown. Seriously. That is a legitimate danger.

And? Do you know what could have happened to fans at the Chiefs game at those temperatures?

20 million football. fans aren’t going to the game. They are watching from home. The players will be well cared for. The fans going to the game can simply stay home.
