I was born 2 months after the 1976 season ended. Seeing as I was a viable fetus for almost a full month of the season, I hereby request the right to claim 38. Who do I submit this request to??

Question:

Did your mother, or did she not, watch at least 50% of that season's games, up and including those you were considered "a viable fetus"?

Not likely. She was a 19-year old battered wife. She probably didn't know the Seahawks existed. Still, something must have been going on subconsciously, because I bleed blue and green!

Aros?

A ruling?

Yep! I remember I was a senior at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood. Although I joined the navy in July of 1977 and left, I always cheered them on from wherever I was stationed. It sure doesn't seem all that long ago. I 'm proud to wear the "38er" moniker. Go Hawks Go!

I didn't arrive in Seattle and discover the Seahawks until 1978.

But, I recently stayed in room #38 across the street from a gas station run by a bunch of 12s. :D

What will the 38ers call themselves in 2025?

38ers. No matter how many years go by, those who started rooting the team on from inception up until their first Super Bowl championship will always be known as the 38ers.

Obviously it's all in fun. There are 12's who are just as much a 12 as a 38er who may have been a fan over the past few years or decade. It's just a fun designation for those of us who through circumstances beyond our control (born in the 60's or 70's) can have a cool little moniker if they want it.

In the end we are all 12's and that's all that matters.

I can understand the pride in being able to know you were there from the beginning and the joy of not having to ever listen to the "empty trophy case" line again. For now, rival fans try to use the "bandwagon fan" label to mock Seahawks fans feeling proud of the team's championship. I can only imagine the frustration when confronted with that type of accusation.

I cannot claim membership. As pointed out by our resident wannabe comedian, I grew up a Bears fan (born and raised in Chicago) but I have had the privilege of being on the bandwagon from back in the Jack Patera days. Broke my heart to lose to the Raiders after the miracle of beating the Dolphins the week before. No need to discuss the whole XL thing and how once again it seemed the good guys could not win the day.

I salute you 38ers. The only exclusive club I can claim a membership of is having watched every Superbowl played and that will end unfortunately one day in the future.

Your membership will never shrink or grow, you are a unique person. Now shut-up your crowing you bastage!! hee hee ...

I am a 98r ,the first year i started obsessing over the Seahawks.Aros and I disagreed a few times during Holmy's
time with the Seahawks.I always hated Holmy's conservative coaching style , It seemed like even with a three point lead we went into a prevent offense as well as a prevent defense.

But we won it in 2013, so we did not wait 38 years, we waited 37.

You can't start off 1976 WITH a SB trophy already in your trophy case. You have to have the 1976 season END. SO, we waited 37 seasons after not getting one in year one.

I see your logic, we only starting waiting after the first one. Got it.

...but I think it's called the 38-club to honor the 38th year.

I didn't read all the fine print.

If you want to have a base 0 versus base 1 argument I suggest we graduate to fighting over map projections.
