Let the record show; I was never kicked out while drunk. Girls can drink, so, it didn't impress me. Even banned two years, I can honestly say I've never gone to a game drunk.

A loud douchebag? Yes. Looking for trouble? Yes.

This still feels wrong, even though I understand.

They did this for the Raider preseason game just for practice. I did not here if there were any arrests. I guess the SPD will be at every home game in opposing teams wear. They will probably be the only Jaguars "fans" there.

Press release today "Similar to last season, fans who have been asked to leave the stadium for violations of the Seahawks Fan Code of Conduct will be required to complete a four hour online educational course focused on fan behavior before they are allowed to return to the stadium. Fans will be responsible for the $75 cost of the course. The team will inform the fan once they have been cleared to attend events at the stadium. If a fan returns to CenturyLink Field without receiving authorization a criminal complaint will be issued against the fan as a “defiant trespasser” with the Seattle Police Department.

Seahawks season ticket holders are responsible for the behavior of persons using their seats. If those persons are ejected, the Seahawks may take appropriate action against the season ticket holder, up to and including season ticket revocation.

Why not just send the cops in cop uniforms?

Add more police but, you know, let them be a presence.

Thats what Im wondering.... why not stop crimes before they happen instead of letting crimes happen and then punishing them?

Spot on. Will never get my head around this (near) entrapment mentality.

I did a rather wild-ass radio show for many years. One of the things we gave to our listeners was the sites of police road locks, set up to bust drunken drivers. Drivers would call the show, and we'd repeat their details to our listeners.

The cops were furious about this. I invited some dick to debate the issue with me on the air. The best he had to offer was "Hey, we're trying to catch these guys and you're not helping". My reply was "I'm trying to keep these A-holes off the roads, that's not helping"? Which approach makes more sense?

Cops in cop gear will deter altercations. Cops in SF gear will (potentially) provoke altercations. I doubt the cops are going to sit on their hands (with flowers in their hair). Hell no. They're going to get boisterous, if not obnoxious. I respect the opinions of those that favor this action, but I think it's bullsh*t.

I used to frequent a site that exposed speed traps, their location, the time they are patrolled, etc etc etc.
Cops got on there and are furious that their traps were being exposed and it was " all about safety" and not about revenue as many of us claimed! I said well you should be thanking this site for getting people "to slow down in those problem areas, right?"......if its "all about safety" and all!

Bottom line is this like speed traps is a revenue grab and or a power grab. Funny how the worst incident last year was belligerent and drunk off duty police officers. Oh the irony!

Consider this your indoctrination into the police state. Get used to it...or don't.

Whoops. Forgot this fella :stirthepot:

I don't like it , there's got to be a better way to do this than going undercover .

The obvious answer is that everyone has mobile devices.

When a 49er fan is becoming boisterous, just record it and post it.

If a police officer is acting overzealous while acting as a member of the opposing fans, record and post it. Pretty simple.

If you destroy what credibility these people have, you also provide ammunition for people that are railroaded by overzealous behavior.

Of course it bear mentioning that if people just bothered to ridicule, callout and shame home fans that are acting like idiots - these kinds of initiatives would not likely get the support they need to get greenlighted. We are living in a time where it is pretty easy to record any behavior and then turn that person into a whipping post. And it isn't that difficult to clean video or post from a masked IP address, if you were worried about fallout.

If boorish behavior had lasting consequences it would absolutely be curtailed.

A lot of fans are going to be in for a surprise. I would kill for them to have a camera on them and publish the video.
You Goddamned right metrade, I, and my loving wife of 34 Years of Seahawks following, were VICTUMS of opposing fan bullshit.
BUT!!!, there was NOTHING done to the opposing bastard fans that were giving us shit for 3/4 of the game.
My wife is an introvert, and wanted to leave early because of it, and my aggressive nature wanted me to stomp shit, but I caved in to my wife's wishes, and probably for the better that she got her way, as NONE of the stadium marshals did a Goddamned thing to quell their belligerent shit.
Before I left, I did let them know that I'd laid out a couple hundred bucks ON TOP OF travel/ expenses/accommodations, and this was a once a Year gig for us because we don't have the kind of money that can be blown without making some big personal sacrefices to attend this game.
We got a mini- helmet signed by Marcus Trufant for our troubles, eh? :141847_bnono:
My wife wont let me go to a game by myself, because she knows that I'd probably wind up in jail for stomping/ or being stomped, by an asshole opposing fan.
I don't believe in harassing opposing fans, but I'll be Goddamned if I should have to take their shit at the C-link either.
The Police Escort Service, should include showing assholes from other fandoms the EQUAL treatment, but they sure as hell didn't when I was there.
PLUS, are the Police going to do the same at the Candlestick, and everywhere else around the US.?

What I find interesting is that there have been undercover cops at Hawk games for the last couple years now, this is just taking it a step further. Also, this wearing the opposing jersey method was supposedly tested during the Raider pre season game and SPD was more than happy to announce there were no arrests (which is absolutely mind boggling for a Raider game).

I don't like the "entrapment" angle of it but I'm thinking this is more talk & advertisement than actual implementation. Sure there will be undercover cops in 49er jerseys but I'm guessing there won't be a lot & they'll most likely be targeting "problem" areas. Just the mention of it can be extremely effective in making people think twice about being overly aggressive verbally.

Maybe they're not going undercover - but leaking the story anyway, so people think twice on game day?

The cops should just show up to the game in their regular civilian clothes and sit amongst the crowd. It will have the same effect, without entraping fans.

I bet this only results in a handful of arrests. This game is going to be full capacity, and even if there are 1000 under cover cops, that is only 1.5% of the fan population at the stadium. More likely there will be less than 100 cops wearing niner gear. That's less than .15% of the stadium capacity. I'm pretty sure every fan on this forum can go out of their way to make a visiting fan feel verbally raped, and physically puked on, and still enjoy their hangovers at home the next day.

If they had Cops in Hawks gear looking to trap obnoxious Niner fans, I would be a little more OK with this. But only a little.

I guarantee eventually we will see proof that one of these cops actually acts aggressively to stir up trouble, then makes an arrest.

This wreaks of stripper gate. Under cover cops getting handies at the local clubs trying to 'bust' prostitution. They managed to gather much evidence before any arrests were made IIRC.

They would be MUCH better served dressing up in 9ers gear and walking around the parking lots/stadium after the game - where people tend to get seriously hurt. They must be attending the game to really convince the retarded drunks that they're really fans, maybe thats when operation protect fans outside of the stadium begins.

We need to consider increasing the presence of police on the sidelines, press boxes, and suites as well.

The sure as hell will NOT be doing this at Candlestick. It's well known that if you go there wearing opposing team colors that you do so with your own well being in mind.

Undercover police will be dressed in Giants' garb and on the lookout for nasty fans. Giants ticketholders will be handed a card as they enter Candlestick Park with details on how to contact police if they feel threatened. And more security cameras and undercover police officers will be in place to identify abusive fans.

Some of those fans ruined the day for a shaken Don Moses and his two teenage daughters. Moses, a longtime Bay Area resident who is from New Orleans, said they were wearing the Saints' colors and prepared for some good-natured ribbing.

Instead, he tells a horror story of fear and humiliation when his daughters asked him why he didn't do anything to stop the hulking 49ers fans who yelled vulgarities and threw footballs at them, screamed in their faces and called their mother a whore.

I also don't like this, but I've seen this happen, at least 3-5 times a game. It's that drunk, stupid, alpha male BS. If I were the SPD, I would pair the undercovers with a female officer. These stupid d-bags can't help themselves when they a guy brings his GF, wife in Niners gear.

Total BS by these dumb fans.

It isn't going to yield anything more than usual. Maybe the rare asshole, but there is no flipping way that these guys are going to be able to pose as Niner fans. Unless of course, the cop who came up with the idea is a Niner fan. It is going to be EASY to spot. Especially if he starts smiling after a successful Seahawks play.

I dunno, no NFL fan should ever have to see the day when they realize they're wearing a shirt with a real man's name on it after his children inadvertantly point out his weakness by asking why he didn't do anything to protect them from being assaulted. That will keep you up at night.

People often take things top far; me, the drunks, the people responding to the drunks. Let's just start wearing name tags and calm down a little.

On a congruent note, did anybody remember back when it seemed visiting fans outnumbered the home crowd? Its unfortunate we can't have something between that and this.
