If we can get Watson, we still have a chance.

We won't be a SB team by any measure. But we can be a playoff team and maybe get better over time.

It feels like we are going to get outbid on this one though.

But we do have a track record of overpaying on trades, maybe this works in our favor this one time??

I agree but I see why most fans will not. I can't see myself ever buying this person's jersey or frankly even rooting for him, but I know it's part of the game for most. For me, I already know who my AFC favorite is. I may just limit watching to that and the local team, being that I already watch them as all their games are local and free.

I do think the Hawks are gonna get him, and I think that football-wise that is the best of the decisions out there, but as for me it'd probably make me watch less if at all.

Outbid coupled with playing under PCs constraints? I don’t even think this is debatable tbh. We’ll see soon I’m sure.

I think we find out soon enough. Unless their plan is to go the QB on a rookie deal route and build around them, I'd say Watson is by far the best option they have.

Personally it was hard for me to imagine the team going rebuild at this stage for Pete.

One thing to consider. Tater Smith knows Watson very very well so that may help the team in it's due diligence. Also, Watson has a no trade clause like Russ did so he has far more control in this than the average player does.

I do like the thought of Watson throwing to either Lockett or Metcalf.

I’m confused as to how Washington isn’t dangling the same package that has 3 1st rounders that we turned down for Russ? How do we beat that?

Plus what would the deal even look like? Pick 9 and the broncos 1st next year plus lock and a 3rd rounder?

Does adding Watson to this roster after subtracting all our new assets make is better or after losing bobby i don’t see how we aren’t worse.

Plus the dolphins were dangling tua and a ton of picks plus Carolina, Tampa , New Orleans and Detroit could bid on Watson too

How would we be outbid when we always overpay for everything?

My hope is we continue this trend, make some ridiculous offer for a QB that is the equivalent of paying 2 first round picks for a box safety, and then everyone is scratching their heads on how much we paid for the guy.

I am FINE with overpaying for a franchise QB. Throw Carroll's soul into the pot for all I care. Just get a QB we can hitch our wagon to.

He gets to pick his destinations. I think Miami, guven they were his favorite last year, might be the frontrunner. But then again, we weren't an option for him last year.

His choice

Keep in mind, he likely will be serving a considerable suspension next year. I'll be surprised if it's fewer than 6-8 games.

“If he did it”
“Serial sexual predator”

Etc etc.

How many people here actually took the time to look into what he was accused of, and who the accusations were made by?

Anyone know how all of the accusers may be, or are related to each other?

I had the same thoughts initially and then I looked into it a bit.

Anyone that’s making comments and forming opinions without knowledge is being dishonest at best.

Evidence goes to grand jury, Watson is called in to testify, and within a couple of hours it’s determined that no criminal charges will be made. Not even the “indecent assault” (misdemeanor) charges that those in the know thought may come to fruition.

Instead of hooking up with some gold digger to get his rocks off, he frequented “massage parlors” or hired the workers to meet him.

We all know what that means.

Somewhere along the way he pissed one or two of them off.

I don’t think Watson used good/smart judgment but call it what it is.

The accusations were made by disgruntled sex workers.

Watson is far from some kind of rapist or sexual predator.

He’s probably the top prospect QB talent that is currently available, we (the Seahawks) would be stupid to NOT take a long look at him, and I’d personally be fine having him on the team.

He will never live this crap down however, because the ignorant public won’t let him.

The harshest penalty leveled by the NFL in a civil suit was against Big Ben for rape, and he got six games.

Why do you think this would be worse, given how thin ( and suspect in its own right) the prosecutions case was.

I think the fact that he was basically disciplined by the team and sat for an entire season will factor in as well.

The NFL would also be staring right at a crap ton of criticism for doubling up on Deshaun while Robert Craft had sex with trafficked women, there was video of it, and the case was mysteriously dropped and a slap on the wrist delivered. Not a good look.

I think the NFL wants this to go away. Best thing for them would be he lands in Seattle asap and all the media starts pushing the upcoming Watson Vs Wilson battle that will no doubt be tops on the docket for seasons to come.

If he IS suspended, I think it's less than 6 games.

It is interesting how some of those 'massage providers' advertised on escort sites and then were SHOCKED when he tried to treat them like one normally treats someone on one of those sites.

His mistake was not using a handler to make the arrangements, get NDAs, and build enough of a paper trail to protect himself. That does not make him a predator, it makes him very foolish.

He also has a no-trade clause like Russ did, with which he can decline certain trade destinations.

But you’re ok with Jody owning the team?

Is she also a serial sexual predator?

Remember that young Linebacker, Brian Banks that was a draft prospect, but he went to prison because a girl got mad at him and said he raped her? Ruined his life!

Yet people like you convicted him in the Court of Public Opinion.

Years later, the girl admits she made it up, but there are no repercussions.

People are ready to convict Deshaun Watson and ruin his life over allegations that have led to Civil Lawsuit$.

IMHO, the WORST part of all of this? It makes life difficult for Women that are actually sexually assaulted or raped. They have a hard enough time as it is coming to terms with it, and it's even tougher to testify about it.

The actual charges:

Grand jury declines to indict Texans QB Deshaun Watson following allegations of sexual misconduct

The allegations against Watson include that he exposed himself to the women, touched them with his genitals or kissed them against their will during massage sessions.

https://www.nfl.com/news/grand-jury-dec ... ons-of-ons.

The Grand Jury made a statement. Instead of getting out your pitchforks, oil, and torches, pay attention to the facts.

People like Salk and Stelton are ready to convict him. Cancel Culture Horticulturalists. No second chances, zero forgiveness, and the 1st to pull out the pitchforks.

How come no on is bringing up Rapistberger, Antonio Brown, and Ray Lewis. Rape, Sexual Assault, Murder. Sounds like a Hall of Fame player to me. :34853_doh:

So sick of this "Cancel Culture." "There are allegations against him? Let's ruin his life, cause unfathomable pain to his family, and destroy his name!" ALL based on allegations.

Im torn. It has nothing to do with his case either. Everyone trying to take the moral high ground in a virtue signaling game of king of the hill is the most cringe thing in the entire world (Hi Evan Hill!). He is a lot younger than Russ so more time to figure it out, but at the same time you probably give up a good amount of the capital you just gained and put a massive QB contract back into the books.

Still think we need to build the team first then find a QB later, but if I woke up tomorrow and hear we got Deshaun Watson I would be excited.

Would prefer not to go after Watson - unrelated to what may or may not have occurred off the field.

I want homegrown, relatively inexpensive, becomes a star as a Seahawk (tall task to identify, I know).

I don't see how you're any further along by using the assets that you received for Russ to get Watson. Same spot - qood QB, underwhelming roster. You don't benefit from the small cap hit at QB, you don't have as many high draft picks to strengthen the entirety of the roster if you trade for Watson.
