Really hoping we get this guy. Would be a perfect fit in this system.

This is the second time I've seen him linked to the Hawks

Some info on him. 6-3, 265 lbs, 4.69 40 time.

Jabaal Sheard: Projected by coach Mike Pettine as the player of biggest impact in his new defense, Sheard made the least impact of his four seasons under three different defensive schemes.

Sheard devolved into a perimeter run defender first and a pass rusher second. He had career lows in starts, tackles and sacks. At the end, there was a mutual feeling that Sheard was a much better player as a 4-3 defensive end than a 3-4 linebacker, and he would maximize his earning potential by fleeing to a 4-3 defensive team.

Now this is a rumor I put stock into.

Pete wants to recapture the havoc of 2013 when Bennett, Avril, Clemons and Irvin were tearing it up.

Well, we were also linked with $uh, and Marshall.

Third time is the charm?

The other two were smoke screens?

Yeah but this time it is really happening!

Seems like it's a bit redundant. Particularly given how we'll have that many second contracts tied up at DE.

It does serve to eliminate or lessen the need to draft DE early in the next couple years. Obviously it's an opportunity to elevate the pass rush depth. Sometimes you have to take advantage of the avenues that present themselves.

Would depend on the cap spend. But from a fit perspective, Sheard should work nicely. Been horribly miscast in Cleveland with their 3-4 switch of a couple years ago. His snap counts are decent -- but his role as a pass rusher has been usurped by Mingo.

I'd consider him a replacement of Clemons' role from 2013. And a good option for that.

If they can land Sheard it would be on the same level as getting Bennet and Avril. Immediate impact.

sounds like this guy would be a great pickup for the Hawks. as we saw in the 4th qtr. of the Super Bowl after Avril went out you can never have enough edge rushers.

I get the feeling they didn't like what happened in the Superbowl too much concerning the state of our pass rush.

Remember Pete at the combine. Edge rushers are extremely difficult to find.

It makes perfect sense. You can rotate the ends to keep them fresh plus slide Bennett inside on passing downs.
