Chip Kelly's camp has reached out to the San Francisco 49ers to express interest in their head coach opening, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. The 49ers are likely to at least consider the former Philadelphia Eagles coach, a source said.

Yeah I'm sure Chip would be happy to just coach. His ego would certainly have no issue with Baalke doing all the personnel stuff. :sarcasm_off:

Well we would be sure to have some really cool material to talk about after about 6 months and the honeymoon was over.

I thought Chip wasn't interested in coaching a college team?

Hard to understand what Kelly is thinking here if this report is true. Nobody kicked his ass harder than the NFC West the past 3 years. Even playing in one of the softer divisions in football, Kelly had struggles at times. He would get killed in the NFC West.

SF is literally the very worst situation Chip could go to in the NFL right now, and when you factor in York / Baalke, it's not even close.

*This* Very much *this*! Let's be frank. Chip Kelly runs a gimmick up-tempo scheme that kills his defense if he can't get sustained drives and the NFC West is perhaps the premier defensive division in the NFL.

Chip and his offense would be destroyed in the NFC West. What *is* he thinking? *IS* he thinking?

Imagine if they get Chip and RG3.

That would do next to nothing for them. They just benched a bigger, stronger version of RG3...I hope they do this.

Chip needs to go back to college if he can't get the Tennessee Titans job. Chip Kelly the GM, did in Chip Kelly the Coach. I think Chip can be a good coach in the NFL, but he has to be in a soft division to start so his system can take root. Plus not be in charge of personnel which did him in.

The present NFC West is too rugged and it would be a disaster, but I guess that's what the 9ers are all about these days. So it's actually a perfect match.

Nice analysis, definitely if he landed in Tennessee, he's have a QB who buys into his system.

Chip Kelly met Thursday with the San Francisco 49ers about their open head-coaching position, CSNBayArea.com reported, citing an anonymous source.

A league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday that Kelly's camp had reached out to the 49ers to express interest in the job and that he was likely to at least be under consideration.

The Niners also interviewed Anthony Lynn from the Bills.

That's noteworthy because he is black, so their Rooney Rule requirement has been met.
