You would think with all the extra time they had during that Charb review, someone would have mentioned to Geno to spike the ball if they got the 1st
EXACTLY THIS. Why in the hell are they not over there planning the next 2 or 3 plays? It comes down to the same crap, every damn year. Pete and his coaching staff getting massively out coached and out adjusted. Rinse and repeat, year after year after year.

They had no business losing that game yesterday, period.

momentum was lost after the first drive and the script ran out.
So the script was ok but than execution fell apart and they could not run the plays after the script or the plays just turned to hell after the script ran out? It's confusing isn't it? If that's the idea script the whole damn game or do you let your offense improvise and MAKE plays unless they can't? Everyone wants to blame the coaches but what if the man running the show can't run the offense on the fly? I dunno you tell me?

I’m not a Pete hater because he does a lot of stuff very well but this blind spot has always driven me nuts because it’s so fixable and yet it’s happened so many times with Pete. It’s borderline bizarre. When Salk or someone brings it up Pete just brushes it off too. It’s maddening.

I think we see clearly that geno always has a good first drive and then falls apart. I always wonder why they can’t have several scripts. All a script means is you preplan which play is gonna set up the next, so plan five separate drives….

We won't have to wait long to see this same Waldron circus again.

Time. The coaches put in about 20 hours on Tuesday to watch film, and put together the opening script. Then test drive it on Wednesday in practice, then refine it, have their walkthrough on Fri, make some last second tweaks on Saturday, if any.

They don't have the time to put together a 40 play script, or they would.

But honestly, do you think they have like several five or six play sequences that they could quickly make into a script on the fly or is the definition of a script that you practice it till it’s memorized and that’s why it looks so different than the rest of the game?

I believe that the NFL is becoming like the WWE more and more every day.

The refs can control games and have mandated team into a pass happy league, just to sell the T.V. so they can make more revenue.

Maybe its time to shift my interest to a new sport.

There are in game adjustments that can be had on the sideline between series.

But for opening scripts, they don't just dial up and sequence plays that they think will work. They watch hours of film of the opponent, and how they will play certain things, and what their tendencies are. It takes a lot of work and time putting this stuff together. Then practicing it, and rehearsing it in the walk-through.

As soon as you run it in the game, most teams will adjust. So now you have to adjust to the adjustment. This is where it gets hard for Geno. His head is swimming after the opening script runs out and he doesn't trust what he's seeing.

NFL defenses have gotten incredibly exotic over the last 10 years. Scoring is down across the league.

In a great irony, where the league has softened up the sport to avoid lawsuits, but also increase scoring (offense sells tickets.) Defenses have been forced to adjust. So instead of being more physical (which just leads to penalties and fines), they've gotten more cerebral. They mask their coverages pre-snap more than ever. They run stacked fronts more than ever with guys dropping and you don't know who is coming. People talking 4-3 vs. 3-4, that isn't really the sport anymore. It's never been harder to play QB in recent years, even though you can't breathe on them, again a great irony.
