I wouldn't consider Jordyn Brooks trash but he definitely isn't ready to call the defense like Bobby, he still needs more experience to get to that level. I don't think it's coincidence that he's playing remarkably better next to Bobby again.
I don't think he'll ever really get there. I think he's just not a mike.

Maybe he'll do better without having to play on a defense in crisis like 2022, but I like him better when he's freed up.

Is it so much Taylor playing badly or Mafe playing much better? I think Taylor is what he is, a one dimensional pass rusher. He won't see the field over the guys that can pass rush and stop the run.
I think he's legitimately playing somewhat poorly. He doesn't have much in terms of craftiness when rushing, and his one dimension isn't good enough to carry him into above-average territory. Also not good against the run.

I'd be looking to move him at the deadline if there's a team out there who overrates his total sack numbers. If someone offers like a third, I'd send him out and let his snaps be absorbed by younger, potentially more well rounded players like Hall. Maybe call Levi Bell up.

We've drafted a lot of complete trash on defense in early rounds in recent years: LJ Collier, Lano Hill, Jordyn Brooks, Marquise Blair, Cody Barton, Rasheem Green, Nazair Jones, etc., but Taylor has to be the most disappointing. His 9.5 sacks last season are the ultimate case of stats not telling the story. In reality, he had the impact of like a two-sack guy, and he has been equally worthless this year. At this point, I have more faith in Dee Eskridge becoming a real contributor than Taylor. Just trade him for whatever we can get.
Brooke is better in his current role, so he’s fine. I don’t want to see him replace Bobby when he retires.

Sadly, I’m fine with a 4th rounder, or possibly a 5th. He’s a liability at times. This team need gap sound players, Taylor is a 3rd down specialist. Better suited for another team.

It's a fair question, but the problem really is Taylor and not snap count.

Per PFF: Taylor has had 99 pass rush snaps this year, and has 0 sacks and 0 QB hits. For perspective, Hall has fewer pass rush snaps, and Hall has 3 QB hits along side a much more robust run defense.

Taylor has always run hot and cold for us, but wow is he running cold right now.

He has done absolutely nothing this year and is completely invisible. He had 9 1/2 sacks last year, but many were in garbage time. Unless something happens soon, I hope we cut ties with him.
in my opinion one of the worst players against the run in team history.

IF a team offered up say a 4th round pick for him? Jump on it. I'm NOT saying they would, but IF someone did, send him packing. Maybe a change of scenery would be the best thing for him.
