Take your own advice about tonight’s game? Not sure why you’d think I give af about a game between GB and Seattle… but either way the whole world knows the Hawks have had plenty of questionable calls go their way over the years … hell even the NFL said Tate should have been flagged for OPI… and by no coincidence after that game the replacement refs went back to their jobs bagging groceries and the real refs were back the next week.

Those two things dont even balance out what happened to Seattle this week, much less the last 9 years.

LOL... "every year"? Gotta call BS on that one... I wasn't upset long... we won the playoff game later that same year.

Just be glad you weren't vying for the top seed... 5-8 and getting upset over officiating... that's dedication. I stopped giving af about the Falcons like 6 weeks ago...

I’m just about done with the NFL. I haven’t and will not buy any merch with the NFL shield on it until Rog is gone and until the “steering” of the games stops. Will the NFL miss me and my dollars? No. …but I don’t care about that.

Every year might be strong, but you've brought it up before ;)

This team was still in (long odds) contention for a playoff spot, so yeah between Tuesdaygate and the abomination we saw tonight, of course fans are frustrated.

All of the major sports leagues in this country have ref problems and a certain amount of steering towards the large media market teams. This is not a new reality. The NFL just hid it better for many years, but it's now very obvious to even the layman fan. The Steeler SB game we lost was the start of the average fan starting to see it in a major setting.

I'm not at all surprised this has happened. There is just so much money on the line in the major sports leagues it was bound to happen at some point. The best thing to do is just enjoy the games for entertainment value and not take it too seriously. That has been my take more and more the last few years. I already went this direction several years ago with the NBA and MLB. Just saying...

If this game had significant meaning for the Seahawks, I would be pissed at the officiating. But at this point, it's just a case of whatever. But the NFL needs to do something in the offseason about this mess.

After XL, I quit watching the NFL for about 5 years.

Apparently, I did not miss much. I came back once Carroll was hired.

Not sure this is as big a screw job to warrant literally giving up the NFL again, but we are getting close.

The big problem with the NFL partnering with gambling sites and casinos was going to be his kind of outcome. This is Tim Donaghy all over again.

The influence and money of gambling is going to lead to more outcomes like this.

We likely would have lost anyway, Wilson was off and Carroll was still being Carroll - but at least let us earn the L!

The defense did a good job considering how threadbare they were and we still could have won it. Really a shame that a potentially good game was ruined by what clearly looks like calls that were designed to effect a specific outcome.

There’s more than enough plays on the field for the better team to win the game despite any calls or non calls. Crying about the refs or luck is loser crap. Game and season is over. Rams are better than the hawks and so is the rest of the NFCW. Bring on the changes.

Agreed. The Rams have been better than us for several years now it's annoying.

Get a staff and players in here to match up with them and Arizona

Around here we are just getting used to our team being trash. You, on the other hand, have had plenty of time to adjust.

Yea - unfortunately, I think I'm right there with you.

I think they lost me substantively this year with the pulled back/non reviewed first down. Couldn't believe when the chains came back and it was denied.

It goes way back further than that tho. And, yea, we sucked this year a bit, but we did get steered here, and not just this game.

I was concerned with all the betting site partnerships that have popped up this year. I don't know how it really effects things - but the look is not good, particularly with those irritating 'caesar' commercials - my god, who came up with that? And the heavy sponsorship of 'the league' in the final season - it all just smells wrong to me.

Time for a break I think. Darrell Jackson OPI XL. Hass low block call XL. Started for me then.

Yea, they get all the 'spot of the fouls' and we get all the 5 yards. No steering there - ever really. ;)

League wide the refereeing has been abysmal and it's only getting worse. Unfortunately, the NFL doesn't view this as a serious issue therefore no fix. The biggest issue is the inconsistency of the calls. They will call it one way but not the other. The last play for the Seahawks was a blatant, textbook PI. They called two PIs on Austin, one where he barely grabbed OBJ's jersey but really didn't slow him down and the ball was overthrown anyway. If you are going to call that one, you definitely had to call Jones for the PI on the pass to Deejay Dallas. This is crux of the problem.

Shawn Hochuli's only credentials to be a ref is that his father was one. Too bad he didn't pick up anything from Ed in that regard. Ed was one of the best.

Strange how posters who are 'done with the NFL' continue posting their garbage on NFL forums.

What's the difference between the official refs and the replacement refs in terms of quality/competence? It's been nearly a decade, and I still can't tell the difference.

The only way to fix it is to make EVERYTHING reviewable! We might have 5 hour games, but at least they'll be fair.

I think that is exactly where we're headed -- and I don't think it will add a whole lot more time to the game. The networks are already providing great instant replays, to the point where fans at home can quickly see a foul, a dropped pass, whether someone was in bounds or not, if there knee was down before fumbling, etc..

Literally all an official has to do is watch what the fans at home are watching, and they can uphold or overturn a call within 10 seconds. A fair number of outcomes hinge on a couple of key plays, so even if it takes a little longer, it is better to get the call right.

Today: "I'm done with the NFL!"

Draft season: "Who we gonna pick?"

Preseason: "Team looks good this year"

Regular season: "Grrr!. Refs keep screwing us! I'm done with the NFL!"

Lather, rinse, repeat every year.

Over time I have started to watch less and less NFL. Pretty much the only enjoyment I get out of watching now is my fantasy players doing well. The product put on the field has just been getting worse and worse over the years. You can turn on any game and watch absolute nonsense go down when it comes to refereeing. A coach gets fined for criticizing the refs, but the refs never face any consequences for their baffling and horrendous performance.. hmmmm. And to say that there are enough plays for each team to win a game is nonsense when pertaining to this game. Teams can overcome a bad call, sure but not overcome multiple sustained drives for the opponent’s offense on bogus penalties and non calls while on the flip side have your offensive drives torpedoed by non calls and BS penalties. The only way to overcome that would be to be a significantly better team, which the hawks are obviously not.

I still remember Fail Mary 2012… also remember a regular season game at the Clink a few years back with Sherman putting the arm bar on Julio that was a game ending no call.

It’s gone both ways over the years… and I’ve watched every Hawk game since mid 2011…

This.

Bad calls are sh**ty but they're also part of the game. If you dominate, a few bad calls won't cause you to lose.
