That's a little harsh. He has really struggled with injuries though. Feel bad for the kid. Maybe he should be cut but we don't need to go calling him a waste of breath.. I'm sure he wants to stay healthy...

He shouldn't be our 2nd back after Carson. I doubt we could trade him for a conditional 7th at this point.

This thread is useless and uncalled for.

Agreed. The Seahawks win, Carson has a very good game but someone wants to gripe about Penny. Only Penny is being brought up because they can't complain about anyone else. They always have to bitch about somebody- win or lose.

4.0 yards per carry. Just keep giving him the rock and will just keep giving you a first down. Thats not horrible.

Agree, but that stat is meaningless if he isn’t in the game because of injury.

Two problems with that.

1. It's an extremely small sample size.

2. Penny can't stay on the field. At this point, regardless of his skill level he's taking up a roster space. He's spent more time injured at this point in his career than he has on the field.

C.J Procise is exactly who he is at this point.

Then we should be referring to his career stats. He's averaging 5.1 yards per attempt (823 yards on 161 carries) which is excellent.

That does limit his value tremendously but we can just put him on IR. This season there is no limit to player returns off IR, and players can come back after missing just three weeks.

Fans are always looking to find somebody they want off the team with no regard to the depth or overall roster makeup. Penny is a valuable addition to this team when healthy and when he isn't healthy we can put him on the IR list. He will be even less available if he isn't on the team at all.

Knowing that he has been good for us when healthy is critical to how we deal with a player who is often unavailable. If Penny misses most of the year but is available and helps us a win a key playoff game then it will have been very worth keeping him around this season.

Useless...except in games he has started he outplayed many backs. Get off his nuts man. People have to find something to bitch about. Even after a win.

Penny is absolutely not a valuable addition to this team. How can you say that when he spends most of his time on the IR or injured? You absolutely cannot. Penny has 5.1 yards per carry over his career, but once again -- he's only been active in small spurts and has never been the primary threat. He's been used in limited spurts in a limited capacity. That sort of usage inflates YPC stats, and YPC stats in general aren't a good indication of how good a player actually is.

Penny is a waste of potential and a waste of space at this time. I'd argue that having a line-up of Carson, Collins, and Dallas is a lot more advantageous at this point in time, seeing as Penny is about as reliable as a Zastava Yugo car.

Watching Chubb right now versus the Chiefs. What an effing wasted pick with Penny. Cant even get to 1000 yards rushing TOTAL in 3 seasons seasons. Total and complete and utter bust of a stupid pick.

Dude, you are totally, completely, and utterly obsessed.

Did you even notice that the Seahawks played really well today, on both sides of the ball, and started the season with a really good win on the road over a quality team, or were you too busy being absolutely enraged that the Seahawks took Penny 3 and a half years ago instead of the guy who suffered a horribly devastating knee injury in college?

Love what the Seahawks brought today. Has nothing to do with this thread. Don’t you want me to stay on topic on the Penny is Useless thread? You want me to make this a game comment thread? Are you the self appointed thread police? Pretty much everyone has joined me on the Penny is Bad Bus. Don’t care who gets on it or not.

Feels like the only reason he was active today was so he could have a couple of good runs and get traded for a conditional 7th in 2029.

I couldn't care less if you stay on topic or not. But since you brought up staying on topic, what does Chubb have to do with whether Penny is useless or not?

Look dude, I'm just concerned about your mental health at this point. It's been three and a half years since that draft and every time Penny is brought up you still seem straight up enraged about it. Maybe you should talk to a therapist or something because your obsession with the whole Penny/Chubb thing seems to be just eating you up inside.

A bust that nobody wants to own :: so you stick with him anyway ! Really ?. Penny was a bust from that draft because he didn't belong in that 1st round to start with . The Hawks could of got much more value with a Penny trade ,etc . a year or 2 years ago . IMO
